Now that both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have finished their runs, it’s doubtful Titus Welliver will reprise his role as Harry Bosch in a leading capacity. Even though I miss seeing him as the lead, I’m still really excited to see what Prime Video does with his character going forward. You definitely feel his presence even when he’s not center stage, and that makes me hopeful for what’s next.

A release date for Ballard season 2 hasn’t been announced, but it’s likely to arrive later in 2024. That means fans won’t have to wait long to see Titus Welliver reprise his role as Harry Bosch.

Titus Welliver’s Return In Spinoffs Means Bosch Never Truly Ended

After the popular crime series Bosch concluded its seven-season run on Prime Video, many fans felt a significant loss. Thankfully, the story of Harry Bosch wasn’t over, as Titus Welliver reprised his role in the spin-off Bosch: Legacy. Though Bosch: Legacy had a shorter run, it clearly demonstrated how essential Titus Welliver is to the franchise.

Because of this, the Prime Video series integrated him into the story of Ballard and is now bringing him back for its second season.

While Detective Ballard is now the main focus, Harry Bosch still appears in every story, reminding us that he’s the central figure of the entire series, even as the world around him grows larger and more complex.

Even with smaller parts, Bosch remains a key figure in the franchise, effectively linking the original series with its spinoffs.

The Future Of The Bosch Franchise Is Still Bright

Despite the original Bosch series concluding in 2021 and its sequel, Bosch: Legacy, being short-lived, the Bosch universe on Prime Video remains popular. The new series, Ballard, has been a hit, earning a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, and the second season is also anticipated to be excellent.

The popular Bosch universe is growing with a new prequel series, Bosch: Start of Watch, which will explore the early days of Harry Bosch. Cameron Monaghan will star as the younger version of the iconic detective, previously played by Titus Welliver.

Given that the new series takes place earlier in time, it’s doubtful Titus Welliver will appear. Still, it looks like a great addition to the Bosch universe, offering a look at Harry Bosch’s beginnings with the LAPD and the events that formed his character and values.

As a big fan, I’m definitely going to miss Titus Welliver in the new Bosch prequel. But honestly, despite that, I’m really optimistic about where the whole franchise is heading. It seems like it’s got a lot of potential!
