Casualty reveals who will seek revenge on Siobhan McKenzie’s abuser in early BBC iPlayer release – and it’s not Flynn Byron

This article contains reference to sexual abuse that some readers may find upsetting.

Siobhan McKenzie (played by Melanie Hill) is deeply distressed in Casualty, constantly worried that the man who assaulted her, Chris Banfield (Cai Brigden), might reappear at the hospital.

Once the legal case was dismissed, he deliberately went to the emergency department and made a point of looking directly at the security cameras, seemingly to intimidate her. This worried the nurse manager, who feared he still intended to cause her harm, so she asked her coworker, Flynn Byron, to confront him.

When Flynn put a doorbell camera up at Siobhan’s house, she reminded him she still wanted him to find the young man. Flynn cautioned against using violence, but he promised to do everything he could to reassure her.

It quickly became apparent at work that the situation was affecting everyone. Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari) told Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) that Chris had been seen wandering the hallways, and she worried Flynn wasn’t treating it with the seriousness it deserved.

He rushed into Flynn’s office just as Siobhan was giving Flynn a paper with Chris’s address on it. They immediately concealed the information, and Siobhan angrily scolded Cam when he claimed to understand her feelings.

As viewers may remember, Cam experienced abuse as a teen and later confronted his abuser at the hospital. Even on his deathbed, the despicable Jamie (Ryan Hawley) refused to admit what he’d done.

For Siobhan, she has done everything by the book – and yet no justice has been served.

That afternoon, she comforted a mother who had lost her daughter to a drug overdose. Meanwhile, she didn’t notice that Flynn had quietly left to carry out his plan.

The girl’s death made Siobhan realize the permanent consequences of choices, and she frantically tried to reach Flynn, fearing he was about to make a terrible error. She was horrified to learn from paramedics that someone matching Chris’s description had been seriously assaulted and was being rushed to Holby hospital.

Thankfully, the ID showed the victim wasn’t Chris. Flynn returned to the hospital and admitted he couldn’t go through with it.

But at the office, Cam quietly took Flynn’s address from his desk, and it looked like he was planning to get even.

What will Cam do?
