Strictly Come Dancing 2026 tipped to be considering adding third host to presenting line-up – as rumoured list of frontrunners revealed

Fans are still eagerly awaiting news about who will host the next season of Strictly Come Dancing, following the announcement last October that Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly were leaving the show.

There’s talk that the show might get a third host to give it a fresh new feel, according to The Sun.

According to a source, the BBC probably won’t decide how many hosts the show will have – two or three – and who those hosts will be until the summer. They’ve been focused on finalizing the professional dancers, and now they can turn their attention to finding the right hosts.

When asked for comment by TopMob, a BBC representative stated that details about Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be announced later.

Although it’s not confirmed yet, there’s a good chance a third host might be joining Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly Come Dancing has always featured a maximum of two hosts. Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly were the original presenting duo, and Claudia Winkleman later joined Tess as a co-host starting with the eighth season.

As for who will be in the presenting line-up, that remains to be seen.

There are now seven possible hosts for the show, and Alex Jones, known from The One Show, is currently the leading candidate according to reports.

Recently, reports suggested that Sara Cox, a DJ from BBC Radio 2, was being considered to host the show. Mel Giedroyc, known for The Great British Bake Off, was also rumored to be a potential host.

The list of potential celebrities for the show features many familiar faces, most of whom have been involved with Strictly Come Dancing or its companion show, It Takes Two, before. This includes Zoe Ball, who competed in season 3 and later hosted It Takes Two, as well as Rylan Clark, who took over hosting duties from Ball. Other possibilities are Emma Willis, Alison Hammond (a contestant from season 12), Fleur East (who hosted It Takes Two), and Angela Scanlon, who competed last year.

Strictly Come Dancing is going through big changes. Recent reports indicate several professional dancers – Gorka Márquez, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas, Nadiya Bychkova, and even long-time cast member Karen Hauer – have been cut from the upcoming season, with producers aiming for a new direction.

The BBC hasn’t confirmed anything, and neither have the dancers’ representatives when contacted by TopMob.

The dancers and hosts for the next season are usually revealed in early April, so we can expect an announcement soon.
