The new Switch 2 console has a simple, mostly grey and black design, which is a bit more understated than the original model. While it offers improved performance, some players who prefer brighter colors might not find the new look to be an improvement. Many Nintendo fans are holding off on buying one, hoping for a special edition with a more exciting design. Now, the first potential special edition Switch 2 has been shown off, but it will likely be difficult to get your hands on one – availability will depend on luck.
Many Pokémon fans expected a special edition Switch 2 to celebrate the popular franchise, considering Nintendo has released themed consoles for Pokémon games before, and the game’s relaxing style seemed perfect for it. However, despite several special edition Switch consoles, the Switch 2 hasn’t received a limited redesign – until now. To mark the release of Disney Dreamlight Valley on the Switch 2, Gameloft is giving away a special *DDVthemed console.
New Disney Dreamlight Valley Edition Gives Switch 2 a Magical Makeover

The upgraded Switch version of Disney Dreamlight Valley will be available on March 25th, and it’s free for anyone who already owns the game. To mark the launch, Gameloft is giving away a special Nintendo Switch console themed after the game. It’s purple and features designs on both the dock and the controller. While the dock’s design is a bit detailed, the console and controller themselves are beautifully decorated with a simple purple dream thorn pattern.
It’s hard to say from the pictures if this new look is achieved with stickers or completely custom parts, but it definitely looks great if you thought the original Switch 2 design was too plain. You can see the custom Disney Dreamlight Valley Switch 2 console for yourself in the contest announcement video linked below.
Currently, only four Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are available as prizes in a contest. You can find the entry link in the post above. It’s unclear if Gameloft will release a special edition of the Switch 2 in the future as part of a larger partnership. Based on the initial reaction, fans of Disney Dreamlight Valley are excited about the chance to win one of these consoles. The sweepstakes is open until March 25th, so be sure to enter if you’re interested!
Besides this limited release, this is the first special version of the Switch 2 we’ve seen since it came out last year. It’s unclear when, or if, Nintendo will create a larger, more widely available special edition. Because of continuing shortages and the high cost of parts, Nintendo likely isn’t planning to make a lot of new limited-edition consoles soon. I expect a Pokemon Winds and Waves edition is the most likely possibility, but only if the current market problems are resolved by the game’s 2027 release.
