Why Oprah Walked Like She Was “90 Years Old” at Paris Fashion Week

Oprah Winfrey is taking the internet’s colorful commentary in stride.

After attending Paris Fashion Week with her close friend Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey responded to online comments about her walk as she arrived at the Chloe show.

She explained that she and Gayle King were being criticized online. During a recording of The Oprah Podcast, which was shared in an Instagram video on March 12th, she said people were making fun of their walking, comparing it to that of elderly people.

Oprah, age 72, said she was walking slowly because she was focused on making sure her outfit looked good. She explained that the sunglasses her stylist chose for her actually made it harder to see.

She explained that she normally wears glasses or contacts. However, the glasses she had on weren’t for vision correction, so she couldn’t see clearly while walking. That’s why people commented that she seemed very old and unsteady – she simply couldn’t see where she was going.

Oprah revealed that Gayle King, 71, was recovering from an injury while they were traveling together.

She explained with a laugh that Gayle was complaining about having broken toes and being unable to walk. She added that they both looked tired because she couldn’t see well and Gayle was injured, and she wanted to clarify that was the reason.

Despite having her vision blocked, Oprah joked that it was worth it because she felt she looked good.

The popular TV personality certainly impressed with her stylish outfits during the trip, but she also shared that the experience had a profound and lasting effect on her personally.

She shared on Instagram on March 10th that she was enjoying fashion, friends, good food, and feeling confident. She also expressed her gratitude for a wonderful week in Paris.
