Although her departure was only intended to be temporary, actress Georgia Jay appears to be preparing to come back to Emmerdale after taking time off for maternity leave.
The actress who plays Steph Milligan hinted at her comeback to the show by posting a photo on Instagram. The picture shows her sitting in a salon chair, starting to read a script with the details hidden. Fans believe this suggests she’s preparing for future episodes of Emmerdale.
One viewer joked that the scene looked like it belonged in the script for the TV show Emmerdale, while another expressed their excitement about seeing the actor return to the show.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Steph to come back to the show, which is set in Yorkshire, after she left last year.
We last saw this character in August, when Steph was going through a difficult time and experienced a breakdown.
Steph, already under a lot of pressure, decided to go to Rome for some time away. To make things worse, she discovered her ex, Ross, had been with Manpreet, which caused her even more distress.
In real life, the storyline acted as a way for Jay to depart on maternity leave and have her baby.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Jay’s return to the show, especially considering her impactful storylines since her debut in 2024. While there’s no confirmed date yet, with her preparing to resume work, news about her future on Emmerdale should be coming soon.
ITV recently announced it will be reducing the number of episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and some cast members will be leaving as a result.
After the schedule was revealed, Kevin Lygo, who leads ITV’s media and entertainment, explained that the changes were made based on what viewers want.
With ITVX, viewers now have more ways to watch than ever before, and we’re committed to making their favorite shows easy to enjoy.
With so many entertainment options and changing viewing habits, we think this episode length strikes a good balance, making it easy for fans to stay current with the shows.
