5 MCU Heroes Introduced After Avengers: Endgame Who Could Wield Thor’s Hammer, Mjolnir

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only a few characters have been able to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir: Thor himself, Captain America, Jane Foster, and Vision. If you include Odin, that makes five. It’s not just about physical strength; you need to be a true warrior – selfless, brave, and humble. Many of the MCU’s heroes possess these qualities, but as seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, even strong heroes like Bruce Banner couldn’t lift the hammer. This suggests that someone must also be internally at peace to wield it.

Bruce Banner has found more peace lately, so it’s fun to imagine if he could lift Thor’s hammer now. But it would be equally interesting to see newer Marvel heroes try! Here’s a look at who might actually be able to lift Mjölnir. As you’ll see, most wouldn’t stand a chance. While Deadpool lifted it in the comics, the movies show that someone’s character matters a lot. The movie version of Wade Wilson has some good qualities, but he won’t be lifting the hammer. However, these heroes on the list? They definitely have a chance.

5) Daredevil

Daredevil – truly entering the MCU with Daredevil: Born Again, rather than the earlier Netflix series – is a bit of a wild card. Like characters such as Wonder Man and Yelena Belova, he’s flawed, but ultimately a good person. However, his tendency towards darkness might prevent him from being worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer.

Okay, so we’re talking about who’s worthy to lift Thor’s hammer, and honestly, out of all the contenders – including Sentry, who’s powerful, sure – I’m putting my money on Daredevil. It’s not just his fighting skills; the guy is a lawyer dedicated to actual justice and doing the right thing, even when it doesn’t benefit him. That kind of selfless character? That feels like the sort of thing that would at least get the hammer to try and move.

4) Moon Knight

Moon Knight’s appearance makes sense because he actually lifted Mjölnir in the comics, which is a big deal. But it wasn’t about him being ‘worthy’ in the traditional sense – it turned out Mjölnir was made from a piece of the moon!

Whether he could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is uncertain, similar to the situation with Daredevil. While Marc Spector’s main personality is too troubled, Steven Grant might be a good fit.

3) Captain America (Sam Wilson)

Sam Wilson was established as a character before Avengers: Endgame, and he officially became Captain America at the film’s conclusion. However, he didn’t fully accept the role until some time after that.

The reason we believe Sam Wilson could wield Mjölnir lies in how he approached the Captain America mantle. He didn’t shy away from helping others, but hesitated to become Captain America, not out of arrogance, but humility – recognizing the immense legacy of Steve Rogers. He also worried about whether the world was ready for a Black Captain America. Mjölnir wouldn’t interpret this as weakness, but as a realistic and thoughtful concern. Wilson possesses both the modesty and courage needed to face challenges like Thanos, just as Rogers did.

2) Shang-Chi

In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the main character isn’t shown as boastful or self-important. He comes across as a relatable, ordinary person. Whenever he uses his fighting skills, it’s always to help others, whether it’s protecting innocent people or his friend, Katy.

Shang-Chi had a difficult childhood due to his father, Xu Wenwu. As a young boy, he was forced to identify people for his father to attack. Despite this, he’s grown into a humble, selfless, and courageous man – someone who seems worthy of wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir.

1) Ms. Marvel

Okay, so as a huge Ms. Marvel fan, I’m really not surprised she’s proven worthy of lifting Mjölnir! Honestly, after seeing what she’s done so far, it feels totally natural. Unless her character changes drastically as she gets older, I think she’s already got what it takes. It’s awesome to see!

Despite her young age, Khan is incredibly courageous. She’s quickly developing powerful abilities that would frighten many, but she immediately uses them to help others. It’s understandable she was terrified when she swapped places with Monica Rambeau and ended up lost in space, but anyone would have been! In battles, she consistently shows bravery, even risking her own life to protect innocent people. She’s arguably the most selfless of the MCU heroes and seems destined to wield Mjölnir.
