Coronation Street villain confirmed to be leaving soap after arriving on cobbles last year

As a long-time Coronation Street fan, I was honestly relieved to hear that Theo Silverton is leaving! James Cartwright, who plays him, is involved in an exit storyline after being part of some really unpleasant drama on the show. It’s good to know that chapter is closing.

Theo has been systematically abusing Todd Grimshaw for months, using physical and verbal violence, controlling his money, and recently, even threatening him with a knife.

Well now, it’s been revealed that he’s set to leave the cobbles as initially reported by The Sun.

A representative for Coronation Street confirmed that James’s time on the show was always planned for a specific period and he knew how his character’s story would end. He will continue to appear in scenes related to the Todd and Theo storyline until later this year.

Lots of viewers have been wanting Theo to be punished for what he’s done, and while everyone expects him to leave Weatherfield, the details of his exit are still a mystery.

Theo arrived on the show earlier this year and has been making Todd’s life increasingly difficult with his abusive behavior. Most recently, during a storyline with Emmerdale, Theo didn’t help Billy after a car crash, and now appears to be struggling with guilt over his inaction.

Billy was learning more about the secrets Theo was hiding, and it became clear that Theo had been up to no good. While Billy felt bad about what happened to him, it was obvious Theo’s actions were malicious. Even though he’s no longer with Todd, Theo always seems to find a way to get into trouble.

As the conflict between Theo and Todd intensifies and Theo’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, we’ll have to keep watching to see how their story develops throughout the rest of the season.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
