2026 is shaping up to be a great year for video games based on comics, with exciting titles like Wolverine, DC Breakout: Arkham Asylum, Invincible Vs, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Legendary: A DC Deck Building Game already announced. Now, a popular Marvel game is getting a DC adaptation, adding to an already impressive lineup. However, there’s one key difference in this new version.

Marvel fans love finding new ways to play as their favorite heroes, and Marvel Dice Throne is a great example. Now, DC fans get a similar experience with Brave & Bold: Bag Building Combat Game. It keeps the exciting combat and character focus of Dice Throne, but instead of rolling dice, you build a bag of power cards. You’ll still unleash powerful attacks as some of DC’s most iconic characters!

Brave & Bold: Bag Building Combat Game Brings Something New To The Superhero Genre

At the recent GAMA Expo, Brave & Bold was showcased, revealing details about its playable characters. The game boasts an impressive roster including popular heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and The Flash. Players can also take on the roles of villains such as Cheetah, Darkseid, Clayface, and Lex Luthor. Each character features a unique play style and special abilities.

Batman will focus on strategic control, capitalizing on opponents’ errors and controlling the pace of the fight. Clayface will be an unpredictable fighter, constantly changing the battle’s flow. Wonder Woman is a well-rounded character who can seamlessly switch from defense to attack, and Cheetah is a fast, relentless attacker who thrives on keeping up the pressure.

Superman relies on incredibly powerful, crushing attacks, becoming even more dangerous as he continues. Lex Luthor, on the other hand, prefers to win by controlling resources and wearing down his enemies over time. The Flash uses blinding speed and unpredictable movements to defeat opponents before they can respond, while Darkseid is a slower, but immensely powerful and relentless force.

Unlike Dice Throne, which relies on dice rolls for powers, Brave & Bold uses a unique system where you build a bag of tokens to fuel your battles. According to Resurrection Games, this bag-building mechanic is designed to create suspense. Throughout the game, you customize your token bag, forcing you to change your strategy based on what you draw each turn.

We designed this system to be simple to pick up, but also offer a lot of strategic depth, particularly when players draw and use their special tokens based on the hero they’re controlling. A key part of this is the ‘Crisis’ mechanic, which adds an element of risk and reward – encouraging players to be bold, but penalizing them for pushing their luck too far.

As a player, I’m often faced with a tough decision: do I really go for it and dig deep into the bag for a big play, or do I play it safe? Honestly, both options have their downsides. If I play it safe, I might not get the exact turn I’m hoping for. But if I go all-in and draw deeper, there’s no guarantee I’ll get what I need, and it could actually cause problems later on. It’s a tricky balance!

Get ready to build your bag and battle! Brave & Bold will debut at Gen Con this year, and then become available in stores on September 4th. You won’t have to wait long to start playing.
