Oscars 2026: Yvette Nicole Brown Shares Community Movie Update

Yvette Nicole Brown knows it’ll take a village to make the Community movie happen.

While on the 2026 Oscars red carpet, the star of Zootopia 2 gave an update on the movie adaptation of the popular NBC sitcom, which also features Joel McHale, Alison Brie, and Donald Glover.

Yvette jokingly told Zuri Hall on the Live From TopMob: Oscars red carpet on March 15th that a Community movie is something everyone wants to happen. Although there’s general support for the project, Yvette – whose film is nominated for Best Animated Feature along with Arco, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, KPop Demon Hunters, and Elio – says finding a suitable time to film is proving difficult. Oh my gosh, it’s just… everyone’s schedules are insane! Trying to get Donald Glover, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong all together? It’s a miracle anyone can even make this happen! Seriously, how do they even coordinate all those amazingly talented people? It’s mind-blowing!

Yvette’s comments follow a recent revelation from Community writer Andrew Guest on The Watch podcast. He explained that making the movie has been difficult because of the actors’ packed schedules. Yvette even joked that it was hard for her to attend the 98th Academy Awards, which Conan O’Brien is hosting.

It was a really busy morning at home,” the Drake & Josh actress joked, explaining that her husband, Anthony Davis, helped her get ready. “I really appreciate Tony – he made sure I had my shoes on and my nails looked great!”

Yvette recently gave an update on the movie based on the show Community, which picks up the story after the series finale in 2015. This update comes more than two years after her co-star Joel talked about the film project.

In a 2024 interview with TopMob News, Joel confirmed that Donald had agreed to participate, adding that getting his commitment was the biggest challenge. He jokingly said they paid Donald $52 million to do it.
