The 2026 Oscars will be down a bridesmaid.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to see Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper planning a reunion! They’re set to take the stage at the Conan O’Brien-hosted ceremony on March 15th. Sadly, their Bridesmaids costar, Wendi McLendon-Covey, won’t be able to join them in person. According to Paul Feig, the film’s director, it’s just a scheduling conflict – she’s got other commitments at the moment, but she’ll be there in spirit!
He told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet that he’d just learned she wouldn’t be able to attend. He wasn’t sure if she was even traveling, but said they would really miss her, as he cares about Wendy a lot.
Over the past fifteen years, the director and the actors have remained close. The director even showed his appreciation for the film by wearing a bright pink suit at the Oscars. (You can see photos of all the red carpet looks here.)
He’s not sure if a sequel will happen, and is leaving the decision up to his co-writers, Kristin and Annie Mumolo, as well as the availability of the film’s stars.
Paul, accompanied by his wife Laurie Feig, shared how proud he is of everyone’s successful careers. While he’s happy they’re all working, he admitted he misses when they were all together. He hinted that any future reunions might depend on Kristen Wiig’s availability.

He acknowledged there were some additional ideas, but he emphasized that Kristen and Annie were the driving force behind the movie, thanks to their fantastic script. He didn’t want to interfere with their creative vision or overstep.
Paul will definitely be in the audience at the 2026 Oscars, supporting Kristin, Maya, Melissa, Ellie, and Rose. This event is especially significant for Rose, as she’s nominated for Best Actress for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Plus, Maya’s partner, Paul Thomas Anderson, is also nominated for several awards for his film, One Battle After Another.
She described the moment as unreal, saying she actually screamed when she found out. “I just can’t believe it,” she told Deadline in January. “It’s such an honor, and I’m speechless.”
