Betsey Johnson Makes Rare Appearance at Elton John’s Oscars 2026 Party

Betsey Johnson is bringing a pop of color to the red carpet.

The famous fashion designer unexpectedly showed up at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s yearly Oscars party and shared her opinions on the best and worst looks of the night.

Speaking with TopMob News at the Los Angeles event on March 15th, she explained that while she notices a lot of black clothing, she prefers more color, describing black as a predictable choice.

Oh my gosh, I was there! And you wouldn’t BELIEVE it, even at 83, I just wanted to soak everything in at the gala. It was hosted by Sir Elton and David Furnish, of course – total icons! Honestly, we literally just arrived, so I hadn’t even had a chance to look around at all the amazing outfits yet, but I was so excited to!

Betsey made a striking appearance on the red carpet, wearing a bright neon pink feathered skirt with a black, sheer-sleeved top and an effortlessly styled updo. Though her outfit was eye-catching, she emphasized that her priority was simply feeling comfortable and confident.

She said it’s a relief to find outfits that feel right and make her happy, especially since she finds red carpet events really scary. She doesn’t consider herself someone who enjoys those kinds of glamorous occasions.

I’m a big fan of Chappell Roan,” she said. “I’ve met her and been to her concerts, and I’d really love the chance to design clothes for her.”
