PS5 Pro Firmware Update Adds PSSR 2 Upgrade to PS5 Games Today

Sony has released a new software update for the PS5 Pro today, adding the long-awaited PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Reconstruction) upgrade.

Players with the PS5 Pro have had a chance to try out improvements in Resident Evil Requiem for a few weeks. Once the latest system update is installed, other games will also receive enhancements.

  • Silent Hill 2
  • Silent Hill F
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Control
  • Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Nioh 3
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2

The new PS5 Pro firmware update is being released gradually, starting today at 10am Pacific Time / 5pm GMT. All users will get the update over the next few days.

The PS5 games listed previously officially support the new feature, but Sony says that any PS5 game using PSSR should experience some improvements. While the extent of the improvement will differ from game to game, many will likely look clearer and more stable. If you notice any visual issues, you can easily disable the feature.

Going forward, most new games designed for the PS5 Pro will take advantage of improved PSSR technology, starting with this week’s release of Crimson Desert. Sony also plans to upgrade existing games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 with these enhancements soon.
