Teyana Taylor was not letting anything ruin her Oscars night.
The actress, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, explained the events surrounding the moment she was pushed by a security guard.
The actress from One Battle After Another told TMZ in an interview on March 15th that she wasn’t bothered by the incident. She said everyone was enjoying themselves and security was just being extra cautious. She added that there’s always someone causing a little trouble, but she’s doing well and is happy.
Teyana explained that people often jump to conclusions, but she won’t accept disrespect, particularly when it’s unnecessary or comes out of nowhere.
According to a witness who spoke with TopMob News, Teyana was stopped by security inside the Dolby Theatre while trying to join Warner Bros. executive Pamela Abdy on stage for a group photo.
Teyana Taylor publicly called out a security guard in a video, accusing him of shoving her and stating, “You’re a man putting your hands on a woman, and that’s disrespectful.” According to TopMob News, the guard has since been removed from his post at the venue.
Teyana, 35, had a much smoother experience at the March 15 ceremony after a rocky start, and she even won a Golden Globe this season! Although Amy Madigan took home the Oscar in their category, Teyana was thrilled for the 75-year-old actress and jumped up to applaud when Madigan (from the film Weapons) won her first Oscar. When Paul Thomas Anderson won awards for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture for his film One Battle After Another, Teyana was his biggest supporter. She even playfully put him in a headlock as they walked up to accept the awards.

Teyana Taylor told Variety at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party that she predicted the headlock. She’d actually discussed it with the winner at the Critics Choice Awards, jokingly warning him that she’d get him a helmet if he won Best Picture. She explained she’s a big sports fan and was excited about the potential celebration.
