Some Xbox Game Pass subscribers are already calling a recently added game “indie game of the year.” While it’s been available on computers since 2024, it just launched on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X this month. It’s immediately available to play as part of Xbox Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
A popular third-person shooter has been keeping many Xbox Game Pass subscribers occupied, but more people are now discovering the indie game Minishoot Adventures, and they seem to love it. A post praising the game has been near the top of the Xbox Game Pass Reddit page for several days.
“Indie Game of the Year”
One player declared this game a strong contender for indie game of the year. They described it as a fantastic addition to the Game Pass library, comparing it to classic Zelda but with a unique twist – you play as an airplane! While acknowledging it sounds unusual, the player highly recommends the game, calling it a standout title of 2026 and giving it a perfect 11/10 rating.
Okay, so one person liking a game on Game Pass isn’t a huge deal, right? But I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about how awesome Minishoot Adventures is, which tells me I’m not the only one who’s really enjoying it!
The most popular comment says the game is highly addictive and played daily, reminding the commenter of classic Zelda titles. Another player enthusiastically calls it an “insanely good game,” adding that they immediately started a second complete playthrough after finishing the first.
Okay, so if you’ve heard of Minishoot’ Adventures, none of this should surprise you. It’s seriously popular! The game has a perfect “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, which is based on over 3,500 reviews – 97% of players love it! And it’s doing just as well on the Xbox Store, with almost perfect scores there too. For only $15, it’s a steal!
Old-School Soul
If you’re new to Minishoot Adventures, it’s a retro-style game that combines exploring a beautifully made world with fast-paced, twin-stick shooting. Many Xbox Game Pass players have pointed out that it also feels a bit like the classic Legend of Zelda games.
Most new games added to Xbox Game Pass take players between 7 and 12 hours to finish, though the exact time varies depending on how skilled you are, how you like to play, and how much of the game you aim to complete.
