Regé-Jean Page may want to leave the ton for good.
Five years after leaving Bridgerton after just one season, Regé recently surprised everyone with his answer when asked if he might come back to the show.
At the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards on March 12th, Leah Henry asked the British actor if he’d consider returning to Bridgerton. “A lot of people online are hoping you’ll come back,” she said. “Is that a possibility?”
It’s so funny – Regé actually told me he doesn’t really use the internet! He basically said he has to trust me when I tell him people are still hoping to see Simon Basset back with Daphne Bridgerton, played by the wonderful Phoebe Dynevor. He’s just not tuned into all the fan buzz, which I find kind of charming, honestly.
After Leah asked one last time if they might meet again, Regé simply said, “Thank you,” and ended the interview.
These remarks follow recent news from showrunner Jess Brownell, who stated that the Netflix series does not intend to replace Regé or Phoebe in upcoming seasons.
In a recent interview with Variety, she explained they have no plans to replace the actors who played those roles. She believes doing so would undermine the strong foundation and excellent performances Regé and Phoebe delivered in the first season and would not honor their work.
The producer of Inventing Anna said Phoebe, 30, and Regé, 38, could return in future seasons if the storyline calls for it.

She added that they’d be happy to have the actors return in the future, but only when there’s a substantial role for them. A brief appearance, like a single line at a funeral just to show they were present, wouldn’t feel appropriate for a number of reasons.
Fans noticed Francesca Bridgerton and her husband, John Stirling, were missing from the screen in season 4 while Francesca grieved his death. However, the show confirmed that the characters did attend the funeral, even though it wasn’t shown on screen.
Jess pointed out that a camera can’t fully represent reality. While things might appear on TV, they’re not necessarily a complete picture of what’s actually happening.
We don’t yet know what will happen in season 5, but let’s revisit some of the best behind-the-scenes moments from season 4.

While filming, Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton) and Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) passed the time by playing a clapping game.

Eloise and Penelope Featherington, portrayed by Nicola Coughlan, seemed very friendly and happy together while filming, suggesting a close bond between the actresses.

While filming on a cold day, Hannah Dodd (who plays Francesca Bridgerton) had some fun making funny faces with Claudia.

Victor Alli, who plays John Stirling, revealed a humorous story from the set of Bridgerton season four.

Even when it rained during filming, the actors—including new cast members Yerin Ha (as Sophie), Katie Leung (as Lady Araminta Gun), Michelle Mao (as Rosamund Li), and Isabella Wei (as Posy Li)—were prepared with umbrellas.

There were clearly no ruff moments behind the scenes.

I always love seeing co-stars connect! They were all smiles as they arrived on set, getting cozy for the show – it’s a really sweet story about a romance between characters named Benedict and Sophie.
