Meghan Markle is sharing a royally rare glimpse inside her family life.
As a lifestyle expert, I was so charmed to see Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, give us a peek into family life with Prince Harry and their sweet daughter, Lilibet! She shared a really lovely, previously unseen clip of 4-year-old Lilibet, and it felt like a special, intimate moment.
A sweet video posted to Meghan’s Instagram on March 16th shows Lilibet playfully chasing chickens, likely at their Montecito home. The clip ends with Lilibet petting one of the animals, and you can clearly hear her enjoying herself.
That wasn’t the only heartwarming family moment Meghan, who also shares 6-year-old son Archie with Harry, shared. She also posted a video of Harry encouraging her from behind the camera while she put together a flower arrangement.
In a video posted to Meghan’s Instagram Stories, Harry praised her work, calling it “beautiful” and “brilliant.”
Meghan was clearly delighted by her husband’s kind words, responding with a happy giggle and a simple, “Thanks, my love.”
The couple, who got married in 2018, have been private about their children, rarely showing them on camera and consistently keeping their faces hidden from the public.
Meghan often shares loving moments of her children on social media. For example, on Valentine’s Day, she posted a sweet picture of Harry holding their daughter, who was clutching red balloons.

As she captioned the Feb. 14 post, “These two + Archie = my forever Valentines.”
Meghan Markle recently discussed juggling her work with her lifestyle brand, Archetypes—which is ending its collaboration with Netflix after a year—and the demands of being a mother.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she explained that, as a mother to young children, she sees them tackling difficult challenges daily. This experience helps her remember to be kind to herself, even when facing obstacles as a business founder. She believes perfection is unattainable, and self-compassion is key.
Meghan shared that she hoped people would appreciate the importance of courage. She believes young people tend to be more fearless, and that we often lose some of that boldness as we get older.

He explained to Sky News in 2015 that you can’t rush things like starting a family – it will happen naturally. When asked if the birth of his niece, Princess Charlotte, made him consider settling down, he said he definitely wanted to have children, but there are steps you need to take before that can happen.

Meghan purchased a Cartier French Tank watch years ago as a future gift for her daughter. She remembered feeling incredibly excited when the TV show Suits was renewed for a third season, so she treated herself to the two-tone watch. She had it engraved with ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and intends to pass it down to her daughter someday, as she told Hello! magazine in 2015.

Prince Harry has often been asked about becoming a father, a topic frequently linked to his parents, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana. He once told People magazine, shortly before he met Meghan Markle, that he’d had mixed feelings about it. Sometimes, while traveling, he’d think he was ready for children. Other times, he’d feel the opposite and decide he wasn’t in a hurry, even admitting there were moments when the idea put him off.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement in 2017, they did their first interview as a couple. They were asked about having children, and Prince Harry said they hoped to start a family soon. Meghan smiled and seemed to agree.

Meghan described becoming a mother after Archie was born as ‘magic.’ She added that she felt incredibly happy to have her two wonderful sons.

After Archie was born in May 2019, Harry shared how incredibly happy he was, saying it was the best experience of his life. He expressed deep admiration for mothers and thanked everyone for their love and support, calling the experience amazing and wanting to share the joy with the world.

During a 2019 speech at the National Youth Mentoring Summit, Harry spoke about what becoming a parent had taught him. He emphasized the significant impact of role models, even those who don’t realize they’re inspiring others. He explained that these individuals can motivate people to be more compassionate, strive for improvement, and achieve greater success. Harry connected this idea to his own experience as a father, noting that his son learns by watching and imitating him, and may one day follow his example.

In 2020, Prince Harry explained that his son is their top priority, followed by their work, and they are committed to doing what they can to improve the world.

Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Harry and Meghan found a positive side: more quality time with their son, Archie. Meghan explained in October 2020 that without the pandemic, they would have been busier with travel and work, and would have missed out on precious moments watching Archie grow. They were grateful for the opportunity to spend so much time together as a family.
Harry shared, “We both witnessed all of Archie’s milestones – his first steps, when he started running, his inevitable tumbles, and everything in between.”

In May 2021, Meghan appeared on TV for a special event called VAX Live, hosted by Global Citizen. During the concert, she spoke about being pregnant and how happy she and her husband were to soon have a daughter. She said they were excited, just like millions of other parents around the world, and hoped their daughter would grow up to be a leader and inspire other girls and women globally.
She explained that the future success of our leaders—and everyone—relies on the choices we make today and the steps we take to build a fair, kind, and thriving future for all.

Meghan briefly appears in an episode of the Apple TV+ series created by her husband and Oprah, called The Me You Can’t See. While on screen, she seems to honor her family by wearing a shirt with the message, “Raising the Future.”

The couple recently welcomed their daughter, Lili, into the world. They shared the news on their Archewell Foundation website, expressing how overjoyed they are. They said Lili is even more wonderful than they had hoped for, and they are thankful for all the love and support they’ve received from people around the world. They also thanked everyone for their kindness during this special time for their family.

Meghan Markle is publishing her first children’s book, The Bench, on June 8, 2021. The book celebrates fathers and is told from a mother’s point of view. Meghan shared that it began as a poem she wrote for her husband on Father’s Day, shortly after their son Archie was born, and later developed into the story.

In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer in October 2021, Meghan explained why she supported required paid parental leave in the United States. She described feeling both incredibly happy and a bit overwhelmed when her daughter was born, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic was still disrupting normal life at hospitals and schools.
Unlike many new parents, we didn’t face the difficult decision of returning to work shortly after our baby was born. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay home with her during those important first months, fully focusing on our children and family. This meant we didn’t have to struggle with impossible choices about childcare, work, and healthcare, which so many families deal with every day.
As a long-time advocate for families, I was deeply moved by what Meghan said. She’s absolutely right – it’s unthinkable that any family should be put in the position of having to choose between their livelihood and being there for their child, a sick loved one, or even themselves. A real paid leave plan would finally give families the breathing room they deserve, and it’s something I truly believe in.

In April 2022, Harry admitted it was nearly impossible to balance his work-from-home life with being a parent.
He mentioned that Archie interrupts their Zoom calls more than anyone else, but added that Archie is often on those calls, which is good.
Harry realized he was already seeing his own playful wit in his son. “I make a point of holding onto that,” he explained. “I think a bit of mischievousness is what keeps you feeling young and engaged with life.”

Meghan admitted she was concerned for her—and everybody else’s—kids in the age of social media.
In an October 2023 talk at the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit, focused on mental wellness in the digital age as part of Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day, she shared that being a mother is the most important part of her life, second only to being a wife to Harry.
She continued, saying she felt lucky her children were still young, so this issue wasn’t something they were dealing with right now. However, she was also worried about how things were changing and knew they’d eventually have to face it.
As a parent, Meghan observed how quickly time passes, saying, ‘The days feel long, but the years fly by.’ She also pointed out that everyone is impacted by the internet and social media, and that ultimately, we all simply want to feel secure.

During a visit to Lightway Academy in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2024, Meghan told a class of kindergarteners about her young daughter, Lili. She explained that Lili is very small and will soon be three years old. Meghan shared a sweet moment when Lili, looking at her mother, realized she saw her own reflection and exclaimed, ‘Mama, I see me in you!’
Meghan explained that the other person was being very direct. However, Meghan interpreted those words in a deeply personal way, realizing, ‘Yes, we truly understand each other.’
