Chopper is guided by the clever but tough doctor, Kureha, a role many fans hoped Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis would play. In a recent interview, Curtis shared her thoughts on not getting the part and praised the actress who did.

Jamie Lee Curtis recently praised her friend Katey Segal’s performance in a new role, saying Segal ‘absolutely nailed it.’ Curtis jokingly added that Segal did all the physical work herself, while Curtis would have needed a fake stomach for the part. She also reaffirmed her long-standing love for the series One Piece.

I’ve been a dedicated fan of this series for a long time – I grew up watching the original American dub. The only thing that prevented me from participating was a scheduling conflict; I was already filming something else in a different location, and it was in South Africa, making travel impossible. If it had been closer, like in Los Angeles, I definitely would have been involved. But I’m really happy with Katey’s performance, and I think this is a truly amazing live-action adaptation of the anime and manga.

Will Jamie Lee Curtis Eventually Sail Into The Grand Line?

It’s doubtful Kureha will be cast in the live-action One Piece series, especially since her part in the story isn’t significant for the upcoming seasons, assuming the show continues to follow the manga. While actress Curtis could potentially play another character later on, it’s unclear if or when she’ll appear, as season three is already filming and will focus on the Alabasta arc. She hasn’t been confirmed to join the cast yet. However, One Piece fans know to expect the unexpected, so anything is possible with this popular Netflix show.

Fans eager for One Piece season three will likely have to wait a while for the live-action crew to return. A new season won’t be released this year, and given the nearly three-year gap between seasons one and two, 2027 may be too optimistic. However, the cast has expressed hope for a faster production timeline, aiming to move relatively quickly from the Drum Island arc to the Alabasta saga.
