About
Starfield is one of the biggest games Bethesda Game Studios has ever created, and it’s only gotten better since its release in 2023. Through updates and expansions, including a major story addition and over 1,000 player-created mods, the game world has become much richer and more detailed.
On April 7th, a major update will be released for Starfield – it’s the biggest one yet! This update makes the game more complete than ever, offering a great starting point for new players and plenty of fresh content for those who have been playing for a while.
Coming to PlayStation 5
On April 7th, Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5, letting players experience vast cosmic adventures and explore the universe from the comfort of their homes.
The PlayStation 5 version of Starfield is designed to fully utilize the console’s features, including the lightbar, adaptive triggers, and touchpad. Players with a PlayStation 5 Pro will also have the option to choose between two modes: one that focuses on smoother performance with a higher frame rate, and another that prioritizes enhanced visuals.
Bethesda Game Studios wants to make Starfield accessible to both new players and those already enjoying the game. The standard version will be available for $49.99 on all platforms, making it easier for everyone to explore the game’s universe.
Story Downloadable Content: “Terran Armada”
The “Terran Armada” expansion adds a brand-new story to the Settled Systems. Players will encounter new characters, explore unique locations, and battle robotic enemies as they complete quests and earn rewards. This downloadable content puts you in the center of a conflict that will determine the fate of humanity in space.

Free Update: “Free Lanes”
The free “Free Lanes” update greatly expands the Starfield experience for all players, both new and returning. Its biggest addition is the ability to travel between planets within a star system using cruise mode. While cruising, players will encounter random events, engage in activities, and enjoy more interaction with their ship’s crew.
Additional features coming with the update include:
- New Locations – A number of new Encounters, POIs, Dungeons, notable increase in variety for players to discover
- X-Tech – A new resource used to upgrade weapons, ship modules, and more.
- Enemy Modifiers – New enemy tiers with performance modifiers, such as extra shielding, more frequent attacks, or elemental damage.
- Moon Jumper – New land vehicle.
- Outpost Improvements – Cross-outpost storage & Milliewhale pet.
- New Crew – Muria and the mini-bot.
- Starborn Improvement – Ability to bring a limited number of items through the Unity to a New Game Plus.
The new “Free Lanes” update is available to all players at no charge. Players who already own the Premium Edition on Xbox and Steam will also receive the “Terran Armada” downloadable content as a free bonus.
Trackers Alliance
In 2024, Starfield added the Trackers Alliance, letting players take on bounty hunting jobs for a new way to explore the game’s worlds. Bethesda Game Studios has expanded this experience with five new adventures for the Trackers Alliance, which are all available to play today.
This update enhances the bounty hunter gameplay by adding fresh targets, contracts, and rewards. Players who already own the original Trackers Alliance content will get this new content at no extra cost. Those new to bounty hunting can purchase the complete package for 700 Creations Credits.
These releases represent an exciting new phase for Starfield, delivering the most polished version of the game to a wider audience as the game’s universe grows. Follow Starfield on social media for updates on the next major update, and visit Bethesda.net for all the latest news.
