Just weeks after the announcement of a new ‘Ghosts’ movie, called ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House‘, the first details and images have been revealed.
A new image reveals the main ghosts from the show, with Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond all returning as their characters.
We have a confirmed release date for the movie, and it’s coming to theaters very soon!
Liongate UK has announced that the movie Ghosts: The Possession of Button House will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Marie-Claire Benson, head of Lionsgate UK’s film division, announced they’re thrilled to offer families a fun Halloween experience. She said bringing a beloved ghost story to the big screen is the perfect way to celebrate the season.
As a huge fan of ‘Ghosts,’ I was so excited to hear that Alison Owen and Debra Hayward, the producers, are bringing it to the big screen! They said they’re ‘thrilled’ to share the show with audiences in a new way, after all the success it’s had on TV, and they’re calling it an ‘unmissable event.’ Honestly, I’m already planning my trip to the cinema!
The screenplay is by Baynton, Farnaby, Howe-Douglas, Howick, Rickard, and Willbond, and Simon Hynd directed the film.

Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe, the main actors from the series, will be back for the movie. Details about the story are still being kept secret, as filming just began this month.
The team behind the show Ghosts originally believed they’d finished with Button House after the final episode. They hadn’t intended to revisit the story, but a new idea sparked so much enthusiasm that they decided to return for one last adventure at the haunted house.
We’re excited to reunite and meet some talented new people as we share this powerful story about life and loss.
The new movie, Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, will be in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday, October 23, 2026. You can currently watch the Ghosts series on BBC iPlayer.
