Robert Pattinson Credits Zendaya With Getting Him Cast in Dune: Part Three (And His Character Is Dangerous)

The next Dune movie, Dune: Part Three, is expected to wrap up the story that director Denis Villeneuve has been telling on film, based on Frank Herbert’s novels. Because of this, many of the actors from the first two movies will be back, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Jason Momoa. Anya Taylor-Joy, who made a brief, uncredited appearance in Dune: Part Two, will have a much larger role in the upcoming film.

Robert Pattinson, known for playing Batman, is joining the cast of Dune: Part Three. He recently shared how he landed the role, revealing it was Zendaya who helped him get it. Pattinson told ComicBook that he loved the first two Dune films and even asked Zendaya while filming The Drama how he could be part of the franchise. He was surprised and delighted to receive an offer a few months later, jokingly suggesting Zendaya had pulled some strings.

Robert Pattinson’s Dune Character Is Very Dangerous (But Fun for Him)

He explained that the films are a remarkable accomplishment by the entire cast and crew. He praised director Denis Villeneuve as a true master, noting that the sheer size and ambition of the production are evident both on set and in the final films, making the whole experience truly exceptional.

Robert Pattinson will play Scytale in the upcoming Dune: Messiah film. In the book, Scytale is the main villain, determined to overthrow Paul Atreides and take his place as emperor. He’s a member of the Tleilaxu, a group known as Face Dancers, which allows him to change both his appearance and sex, making him a dangerous and versatile opponent.

Robert Pattinson didn’t reveal much about his role as Scytale, but hinted that it was a very enjoyable character to portray and that the character’s appearance was unique and striking.

Robert Pattinson is known as a handsome leading man, but he often chooses to play strange and unusual characters in movies. His role as Scytale fits right into that pattern. Taking on a villain in the Dune universe will be a challenge, though. He’ll be following in the footsteps of Stellan Skarsgård and Austin Butler, who both delivered memorably creepy performances as villains in recent years.

Dune: Part Three will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
