Jim Carrey Confirmed to Return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 in New Teaser Trailer

Paramount Pictures has shared a new trailer that finally reveals the title of the fourth movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

What will perhaps be of most interest to fans is the confirmation that Jim Carrey is set to return.

The actor has hinted at retirement lately, making fans unsure if he’d return to play Dr. Robotnik in future films. However, it now appears he will be back for more movies.

The video hints at the appearance of Metal Sonic, who appears to be a villain opposing Sonic and his friends.

The film is scheduled to arrive in March 2027, so it’s still about a year away.

Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz (as Sonic), and Kristen Bell, who is new to the series as Amy Rose, are all featured in the video’s title. The rest of the familiar cast will also return for Sonic 4.

According to a post by Schwartz on X, the cast is returning with familiar voices and actors, including Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, Keanu Reeves as Shadow, James Marsden as Tom, Tika Sumpter as Maddie, and Lee Madjoub as Agent Stone.

The movie is adding Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Matt Berry, and Richard Ayoade to the cast, though their specific roles haven’t been revealed yet.

There’s plenty of time for new details to filter in during the next 12 months.
