Supermassive Games has decided to postpone the release of their sci-fi horror game titled Directive 8020. Instead of launching on October 2nd, it’s now scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2026. This extra time is being utilized to ensure we offer our fans an exceptional gaming experience.
Alongside the announcement of job reductions, the developer emphasized that they are a response to the dynamic and continuously shifting nature of the gaming industry. Up to 36 individuals may be impacted by these changes, with the utmost concern given to offering comprehensive assistance to those affected. This marks the second significant wave of layoffs for Supermassive Games, as approximately 90 employees were reportedly dismissed last year.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that “Directive 8020” is being crafted for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC! In this game, I’ll be part of the Cassiopeia, a colony ship on a mission to Tau Ceti f, seeking a new home. But instead, we stumble upon a chilling discovery: a shapeshifting alien entity that can flawlessly mimic my crewmates.
Similar to the movie “The Thing”, you’re faced with the challenge of deciding who to trust, a decision that can have significant outcomes.
