As a total classic TV fan, I’m thrilled to hear Prime Video is adding a ’70s sitcom gem to its lineup! They’ve been really boosting their content this month with some great movies like Airport and Superbad, but this is huge for those of us who love a good laugh from the golden age of television. Apparently, we’re getting over 200 episodes – seriously, that’s a lot of classic TV to enjoy!
Starting March 25th, you can watch every episode of the classic 1970s sitcom All in the Family on Prime Video. Originally on CBS from 1971 to 1979, the show – inspired by a British series – followed the everyday arguments and differing opinions of Archie Bunker, a stubborn working-class father, and his more liberal family. The series starred Carroll O’Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner.
All in the Family Is One of the Best Sitcoms Ever
With an impressive 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, All in the Family truly stands out as one of the most important sitcoms ever made. It’s consistently ranked among the best comedy series of all time by Rotten Tomatoes and other publications. The show revolutionized TV comedy by moving beyond simple entertainment to offer insightful social commentary. All in the Family boldly tackled difficult and often avoided topics—like racism, prejudice, women’s rights, sexual assault, and the impact of war—holding up a mirror to American society and challenging viewers to examine their own beliefs. Its messages are still powerful and relevant today.
All in the Family was a groundbreaking sitcom that tackled serious social issues through humor. It succeeded by focusing on realistic, flawed characters who mirrored the complexities of everyday life in 1970s America, breaking away from the more wholesome sitcoms of the 1960s. The show was also well-written, with characters like Archie Bunker evolving believably over time. What’s New on Prime Video?
On March 25th, Prime Video is adding a lot of classic TV shows and movies! Fans will be able to stream all nine seasons of All in the Family, along with complete series of Good Times, Married… With Children, Rules of Engagement, and Who’s The Boss. Other shows joining the lineup include Drop Dead Diva, L.A.’s Finest, and The Shield. Plus, March additions also feature films like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Josie and The Pussycats, Shrek, Super 8, and Uptown Girls.
