Crimson Desert has plenty to offer, but after learning it was an option, getting the Dragon Mount became our main goal.
Given how many different things you can do in Crimson Desert, it’s no surprise you can even ride a dragon!
Just a heads-up, getting the Dragon Mount in Crimson Desert is a lengthy process, but let’s walk through how to do it.
How to get Dragon Mount in Crimson Desert explained
Just a heads-up: this guide contains spoilers for Chapters 9 and 11, so be careful if you haven’t played those yet!
Now that’s settled, your next step is to get to Chapter 9, “The Sage of the Desert.”
As part of the Shattered Ties questline, you’ll visit the Palace of Urdavah and remove a spear from Blackstar, the injured dragon.
After that, head back to Urdavah. As you get close, a ‘Wait’ message will appear – select it. This will take you to the battlements where you’ll face the dragon.
You’ll need to have at least Stamina Level 5 before you can continue, so be sure to reach that level first.
When the dragon gets close, jump and glide through the air, then use Axiom Force to grab onto its back.
Once you’ve grabbed hold, press the jump button to do an aerial move – that’s where your stamina comes in handy!

When you climb onto the dragon’s back, a button will appear on screen labeled ‘Resist’. Hold this button down to stay on tight as the dragon flies around unpredictably.
You’ll eventually need to use a Focused Force Palm. First, activate Focus, then charge up your Force Palm until you see a green glow on the dragon’s back. When you do, aim for that spot and strike it.
This will cleanse the dragon of its corruption, and then it will be able to fly away – but keep in mind, we aren’t finished yet.
Continue the story by starting Chapter 11, “Truth and Reality,” and traveling to Delesyia as you follow the Foreboding Shadow questline.
You’ll take on the Golden Star boss, an incredibly tough fight against a a kind of mecha dragon.
So, I was battling the Golden Star, and after I’d chipped away at its health enough, Blackstar actually showed up to help me finish the job! It was a huge relief, honestly.
After you finish this, you can return to the Nest of Valor from Chapter 9. Blackstar will be there, and you’ll be able to use him as your main Dragon Mount from then on.
Blackstar will continue to be important to the story, but getting a Dragon Mount now is still a great benefit for the rest of the game!
