Miley Cyrus takes charge of her own path, and that spirit led her to start planning the celebration for the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana even before Disney officially gave the go-ahead on March 24th.
She admitted to developing a bad habit, but surprisingly believes it was actually good advice. She shared this with Variety in March, about eight months after telling Sirius XM she wanted to create something truly memorable to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show that made her famous.
Cyrus shared that Dolly Parton, her godmother, advised her to start promoting something before it’s actually created. Parton’s logic was that it’s harder for people to reject an idea once it’s already being talked about. Cyrus took this advice to heart and began advertising a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special even though it hadn’t been planned yet.
Fortunately execs didn’t tell their star to let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
Instead, the Grammy winner will revert to her signature blonde hair for a one-hour concert. The show will include popular songs like “The Best of Both Worlds” and “This Is the Life,” an interview with devoted fan Alex Cooper, and a special appearance by Selena Gomez. It was filmed in February with an audience of 215 young millennials.
I didn’t want to radically change Hannah’s character,” the 33-year-old told Variety. “I wanted to stay true to her original portrayal. However, we also wanted to show her evolving with the times, so now she’s wearing Gucci.”
Miley Cyrus became incredibly famous as a teenager when she starred as both regular teen Miley Stewart and the pop star Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011. By the time the Hannah Montana: The Movie came out in 2009, Miley had already become more famous than her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, a country singer. Billy Ray Cyrus actually played Miley’s father in the show as well, known for his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart.”
The show was a huge hit for Disney Channel, achieving some remarkable milestones. The soundtrack from its first season went straight to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and the concert film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, broke records as the highest-grossing concert movie when it came out in 2008.
Miley Cyrus recently told Variety that the popularity of Hannah Montana sometimes felt comparable to Beatlemania.
She’s continued to achieve success with her music, and in 2024, her hit song “Flowers” earned her the first of three Grammy Awards.

Miley recently told Variety that many artists feel they need to shed parts of their past to grow, but she prefers a different approach. She described herself as a ‘gorgeous patchwork blanket,’ explaining she’d rather embrace all her past experiences and combine them to create who she is today – not discarding anything, but letting it all come along for the ride.
After all, she noted, “My entire life is because of that loyalty.”
As a huge fan, I’ve been following Miley Stewart and the whole Hannah Montana team ever since the show ended, and it’s been amazing to see everything they’ve achieved – truly living the best of both worlds!

Miley Cyrus continues to be a major force in music. Since her days as Hannah Montana, she’s released several successful albums, including Bangerz (2013), Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), Younger Now (2017), Plastic Hearts (2020), Endless Summer Vacation (2023), and Something Beautiful (coming in 2025). In 2023, she finally won her first Grammy Award for her popular song, “Flowers.”
Following her split from Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus dated both Cody Simpson and Kaitlynn Carter. She is currently engaged to Maxx Morando.

Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana in 2011 after four seasons, the actress continued her career by providing voice work for animated series like Family Guy and Rainbow Brite. She also made appearances on shows including Mom, Young & Hungry, Cleaners, and The Kominsky Method. Currently, she’s starring in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage on CBS.

Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana, the actor appeared in several other shows, including Kickin’ It on Disney XD, WTH: Welcome to Howler, and Hotel Du Loone. He married Katie Drysen in 2017.

The actor was on the show Pair of Kings and later hosted PrankStars after Hannah Montana finished its run. In 2011, at age 20, he was arrested for driving under the influence. This led to his character being removed from Pair of Kings and PrankStars being canceled. More recently, he’s continued acting, providing voices for the animated series Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law.

The actor has been in several shows and movies recently, including The Middle, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Ben-Hur, and Pitch Perfect 3. He had a leading role in the 2020 film The King of Staten Island, which starred Pete Davidson and was directed by Judd Apatow. He now appears in The Fallout.

In late 2011, she appeared in a Broadway revival of the musical Godspell. She’s also a singer and opened for the Jonas Brothers during their 2012 Asia tour.
I’ve been a fan for years, and it’s been so fun watching her career grow! I especially loved seeing her on shows like Baby Daddy and the reboot of Charmed. And I was thrilled when she announced her engagement to Scott Kline back in November 2018. The wedding last June was beautiful, and I was so happy to hear Uzo Aduba was her maid of honor – what a fantastic friend to have by her side!

Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana, the actress continued her career with roles in shows like Melissa & Joey and The Young and the Restless, as well as several TV movies, including Life-Size 2 from 2018.

The performer came in fourth place on season seven of Dancing With The Stars in 2008 and released his first album in 2012. He also kept acting, with appearances in two episodes of Melissa & Joey and in the TV movies Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

Okay, so Billy Ray Cyrus is still making music, which is amazing! I mean, after years of country songs, he finally hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 2019! Can you believe it? It was with Lil Nas X on that “Old Town Road” remix – seriously, that song was everywhere, and Billy Ray was a part of it! And it’s not just music, he was also acting! He had his own show, Still the King, in 2016 and 2017, and I tried to watch every episode. He’s just so talented, and I’m so proud of everything he does!
After divorcing his wife, Tish Cyrus, in 2022, Billy Cyrus briefly married singer Firerose. Just ten months after announcing their split, he began dating actress Elizabeth Hurley, and the couple surprised fans with affectionate photos shared on social media at Easter in 2025.

Miley Cyrus’s younger sister was on six episodes of the show Hannah Montana. She started her own music career in 2016 with the release of her first single, “Make Me (Cry).” In 2018, she briefly dated Lil Xan and they recorded a song together called “Live or Die,” but they split up after just a few months.
She got engaged to designer Pinkus in 2023.
