Coronation Street‘s Mal Roper (played by Tim Treloar) has suddenly remembered something about his attacker, experiencing a flashback that may reveal who was responsible.
He identified the wrong suspect, and now he’s trying to position himself to pursue Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove).
They met at the Chariot Square Hotel and both went to the bar to drink, feeling down. Bernie then invited her back to his room, where he ordered drugs and attempted to kiss her.
She quickly distanced herself, firmly stating her loyalty to her husband, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), and then left. Later that night, the party continued, but she was discovered unconscious in a nightclub bathroom.
Mal arrived at Roy’s Rolls because she was hired as an electrician to repair the wiring in the apartment upstairs. Bernie was upset to learn he’d be working with her and insisted they stay apart.
He confessed he still thought about their kiss, but she responded by threatening his life and telling him to go away. Not long after, as if on cue for dramatic effect, he was attacked.
Bernie was arrested, but she protested her innocence.
It was later revealed that her son, Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, was the one responsible. Last week, his fears came true when someone came forward and identified him as the person who committed the act.

Quickly thinking of a way to control the situation, Kit threatened to get the owner’s liquor license revoked if they didn’t comply with his demands – essentially, it was blackmail.
But today on the show, things took an unexpected turn. Kit was called into the station by his coworker, Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers), who shared that he finally remembered his attacker.
Lisa said that, according to the story he told, Dev was the one who did it. Kit couldn’t believe it when his stepfather was arrested and brought in for questioning. Meanwhile, Bernie was shocked and considered betraying her son’s confidence by turning him in.
