Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, has purchased The Fun Pimps, creators of 7 Days to Die, both companies revealed.
Here is the full message from The Fun Pimps co-founder Richard Huenink on the acquisition:
Hi everyone, this is Richard, one of the founders of The Fun Pimps. We’ve got some really exciting news to share with you all.
When my brother and I started The Fun Pimps, we just wanted to make games we would enjoy playing. We never dreamed it would become what it is today! Our game, 7 Days to Die, which we started working on during Thanksgiving 2012, has now sold over 20 million copies. What started with just the two of us has grown into an amazing team of 70 people. But honestly, the best part is you, the players. You’re the most passionate gaming community I’ve ever seen, and it’s been a real honor working on this game for you all.
We’ve made great progress with 7 Days, but we have even bigger plans for the game. To achieve our ambitious goals, we realized we needed to team up with the right partner. We were fortunate enough to be in a position to choose carefully, and we’re thrilled to announce that The Fun Pimps are now joining Behaviour Interactive.
Behaviour Interactive, like The Fun Pimps, clearly loves horror games. They’re famous for Dead by Daylight, and also publish the fantastic Darkest Dungeon series. We’re incredibly excited to have 7 Days associated with these well-known horror titles. We know some of you might be worried about this change, but ultimately, it’s about gaining the support and resources we need to achieve our biggest goals, and working with a partner who shares our vision for the future.
This isn’t about losing creative control or abandoning the game we’ve worked so hard on. We partnered with Behaviour because they’re as passionate about 7 Days as we are – they see its potential and believe in our team’s ability to make it a reality. We also share the same values when it comes to supporting our community and modding. To be clear, we’re staying involved and committed to the game.
Behaviour is investing in The Fun Pimps not to push for changes, but because we share a common goal: to create a leading platform for horror games, alongside titles like Dead by Daylight, Darkest Dungeon, and 7 Days to Die. This investment, with Behaviour’s support, will allow us to grow our teams – including art, engineering, design, community, and player support – and ultimately bring our vision for the future of 7 Days to life.
We understand you’re curious to learn more, and while we can’t share all the details just yet, we’ll be back later this year to explain our plans. We’re incredibly excited about what The Fun Pimps and Behaviour can achieve together, and after twelve years, it feels like our journey is only just beginning.
