The release date for Pokemon Champions on Nintendo Switch has finally been revealed! It was announced last month during the Pokemon Day livestream that the game would be coming in April. With April fast approaching, many fans expected a specific date to be announced soon, and now it finally has!
A new trailer just dropped, confirming that Pokemon Champions will be released on April 8th! The game will be free to play and available directly on Nintendo Switch. Players with the newer Nintendo Switch 2 console can expect even better graphics and an enhanced visual experience.
Pokémon Champions will offer a range of requested game modes, including both single and double battles. You’ll be able to play in ranked, casual, and private matches. Plus, Pokémon from previous games can be transferred into Champions using Pokémon Home, making it a central hub for competitive battles.
Pokemon Champions Will Get One More Release Later in 2026
Pokémon Champions is coming to Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2 in April. Later in 2026, it will also be released on mobile devices. A key feature of the mobile version is the ability to play and share progress with players on the Switch. This multi-platform release should make Pokémon Champions very popular, letting players battle each other wherever they are.
Overall, Pokemon Champions is expected to continue the Pokemon series’ current success. Recent games like Pokemon Pokopia, and the Nintendo Switch releases of Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, have given the series a strong start to 2026. Following the recent celebration of Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, The Pokemon Company is clearly aiming to make this a fantastic year for the franchise.
