Christopher Nolan’s Sci-Fi Masterpiece Is Getting a New Streaming Home

Christopher Nolan is a highly acclaimed director known for creating both popular and critically successful films. His movies have grossed over $6 billion worldwide, and he’s received numerous awards, including Academy Awards. He’s worked across a wide range of genres, from superhero films like The Dark Knight trilogy to historical dramas such as Oppenheimer, and is particularly skilled at science fiction. Now, his acclaimed 2014 sci-fi film will be available to stream on Peacock.

I’m so excited that Interstellar is coming to Peacock on April 1st! It’s truly one of Christopher Nolan’s masterpieces – a really powerful and moving film. It tells the story of Joseph Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, a former NASA pilot who gets a huge mission: flying a spacecraft through a wormhole to find a new home for humanity as Earth becomes uninhabitable. The cast is amazing too, with Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine all starring. It was a huge hit when it came out, and for good reason – it blends really smart science fiction with a surprisingly emotional story. It’s a film that really stays with you.

Interstellar Is As Much a Family Story As It Is a Sci-Fi Epic

While Christopher Nolan has made other science fiction films, Interstellar is considered one of his finest, largely because of its strong emotional core. At its heart, the movie is a story about family, specifically the powerful love between a father and his daughter. Cooper’s family, especially his daughter Murph—who shares his passion for science—are his primary motivation for joining the space mission. With Earth facing destruction, Cooper hopes to save humanity, and ultimately, his family. Although he promises Murph he’ll return, the effects of space travel mean time passes differently for him, and he can only watch from afar as his children, including Murph who becomes a scientist, grow up.

At its heart, this film is about a father and daughter whose bond is key to solving a scientific puzzle – one that will allow humanity to escape Earth. This personal connection is a clever twist, grounding the movie’s grand scale and ambitious mission. What you get is an epic science fiction adventure filled with stunning visuals, complex science, and incredibly suspenseful scenes, all woven around a deeply moving family story. The addition of time travel adds another fascinating layer to the narrative, making it a film that stays with you long after it ends. If you haven’t experienced it, or haven’t seen it recently, be sure to watch it when it becomes available on Peacock on April 1st.
