In a recent essay for The New Yorker, Amanda revealed she has a type of breast cancer that is generally less aggressive and more treatable. Specifically, her cancer is hormone-receptor-positive and HER2-negative. Because of this, she explained she will only require a lumpectomy and radiation therapy, rather than a more extensive double mastectomy.
Amanda appreciates having her children with her while she deals with her health issues, but she also acknowledges that they still behave like normal kids.
The actress from Your Friends & Neighbors, who appears in the second season of the Apple TV show launching April 3rd, shared that her kids often comment on how unusual her job is. They said this when she attempted to show them Something’s Gotta Give, the 2003 movie she made with Jack Nicholson and the late Diane Keaton.

She said she desperately wanted them to see the footage, calling it a pivotal moment in her career. They watched only five minutes – including a scene with Jack Nicholson, where she remembers possibly straddling him – before shutting it off. Their reaction was harsh: they found it deeply offensive and ethically questionable, and immediately ended the viewing.
Recently, Amanda had a sweet bonding experience with her daughters when she noticed they started secretly borrowing clothes from her closet.
She explained that for a long time, her kids would tease her about her fashion choices. But then the tables turned, and they started wanting to borrow clothes from her closet.
