As Fans Wait for VisionQuest, Paul Bettany’s Forgotten Horror Thriller Finds A New Streaming Home

Paul Bettany’s journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been captivating, especially with the direction his character, Vision, took in WandaVision. The Disney+ series centered on a deeply emotional and mysterious suburban story, which many fans consider one of the best MCU shows. Bettany’s performance was critically acclaimed, earning him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, and left audiences eager to see more of Vision – but fans have been waiting a long time for his return.

Fans are looking forward to the next installment, VisionQuest, coming to Disney+ later this year. In the meantime, a previous role of Paul Bettany’s has become available elsewhere. His 2010 supernatural horror movie, Legion—where he portrays a fallen angel attempting to stop the end of the world—started streaming on Netflix in the US on March 1st.

The movie Legion, directed by Scott Stewart, begins with God losing faith in people and deciding to destroy humanity with an army of angels. However, the Archangel Michael, portrayed by Paul Bettany, refuses to carry out the order. He descends to Earth, removes his wings, and prepares for a fight, heading to a small diner in the Mojave Desert called Paradise Falls. There, he finds Charlie, a pregnant waitress whose unborn child he believes is the key to humanity’s survival and the reason the angels are coming after them.

The movie traps its characters in a diner as it’s surrounded by both possessed people and angelic warriors. There’s even a terrifying zombie ice cream man who will bring back bad memories from your childhood! It’s a mix of a tense siege movie, an action-packed biblical thriller, and a late-night horror film, with a touch of The Terminator thanks to Guy Bettany’s performance. It’s as thrilling as it sounds, and it’s available on one of the most popular streaming services.

The film also stars Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Adrianne Palicki, Kate Walsh, and Kevin Durand, who plays the main villain, the Archangel Gabriel. For those who enjoy Jeremy Bettany’s work, this movie offers a great way to see him in a role while fans wait for his return as Vision.

What To Expect From VisionQuest

VisionQuest continues the story of White Vision, the android who regained his memories and left at the end of WandaVision. This follows a conversation with the original Vision about identity and the philosophical Ship of Theseus. VisionQuest is the third installment in a unique series that started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha: All Along.

Terry Matalas, known for his work on shows like Star Trek: Picard Season 3 and 12 Monkeys, is heading up the creative side of the project. James Spader is back as Ultron, the character who created Vision, after more than ten years since Age of Ultron. Todd Stashwick will play Paladin, a hired gun who is after Vision for his advanced technology.

Emily Hampshire portrays EDITH, the AI that handles security for Tony Stark. Orla Brady plays FRIDAY, who previously assisted Stark as his AI. T’Nia Miller joins the cast as Jocasta, a character from the Marvel comics connected to both Ultron and the Avengers. Ruaridh Mollica will play Thomas Shepherd, the son of Vision. Mary McDonnell and Faran Tahir are also part of the cast.

This series is likely to challenge White Vision as he struggles to understand the memories he received from his Red Vision counterpart. Adding to his difficulties, James Spader will reprise his role as the villainous Ultron in VisionQuest, promising even more obstacles for White Vision to overcome.
