Nicola Coughlan, known for her role in Bridgerton, has shared that she didn’t get a major part in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things.
The Irish actress revealed she tried out for the part of Robin Buckley on the popular sci-fi series, a role that ultimately went to Maya Hawke.
She admitted to Siân Welby on Capital Radio that she was lucky to have come as close as she did to achieving it.
“I did a first round audition for Stranger Things to play Robin, which Maya Hawke then played.”
She laughed about not getting the part, then complimented Hawke’s performance, saying she was perfectly suited to the role.
It’s funny when you watch a show and realize how much better your life is compared to the characters – you’re glad you’re not dealing with their problems!
She admitted she tried out for Stranger Things, but wasn’t even close to getting a part.

Robin Buckley joined the show Stranger Things in its third season as a coworker of Steve Harrington at the ice cream parlor where he worked.
Viewers quickly fell in love with her character because she was funny and clever, and the actors had great chemistry together.
While Maya Hawke had acted before, the popular Netflix series made the 27-year-old – whose parents are famous actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke – a star.
Not getting that part didn’t hold Nicola Coughlan back at all. She quickly found success starring in her own Netflix show, Bridgerton, where she plays Penelope Featherington – and secretly, Lady Whistledown!
She’s well-known for her roles as Clare Devlin in the hilarious Channel 4 sitcom Derry Girls, Maggie in the darkly comedic series Big Mood, and Silky in the upcoming movie based on The Magic Faraway Tree.
Stranger Things and Bridgerton are both available to stream on Netflix.
