Pragmata – Everything You Need to Know

Capcom’s Pragmata is a new and exciting franchise, and we’ve been following its development with great interest. We’re pleased with how it’s coming along, and if you’re as excited about it as we are, here’s a preview to get you ready for its release.

We’ve gathered all the latest information about the game and highlighted key details to help you decide if it’s right for you. We’ll cover everything from how the game plays to whether your computer can handle it, giving you a complete overview of what Pragmata offers.

1. An Interesting Premise

The game Pragmata offers a fresh take on the potential risks of artificial intelligence. The story centers around the discovery of a new material called lunum, which has dramatically advanced 3D printing technology.

The game’s story begins when a team is dispatched to a lunar research station to investigate a communication failure. This station is where Lunafilament, a groundbreaking material, is being studied.

2. A Protagonist Duo Like No Other

Hugh Williams, known for his dry wit, is part of the team sent to investigate the strange communication failure at the station. A moonquake separates him from the others and knocks him out. He’s a skilled fighter, but not very tech-savvy when it comes to computers.

Diana is a helpful robot who saves Hugh during the earthquake. She was created by Lunafilament, but her background and purpose are still a mystery. She dreams of exploring life outside the research station, which adds an interesting layer to her relationship with Hugh.

There’s also IDUS, a dangerous AI that has become hostile and is actively trying to stop Hugh and Diana from escaping, using what it calls “controlled violence” which still poses a serious threat. However, Hugh and Diana have a plan and some surprises of their own.

3. Getting Under Your Enemy’s Skin

Okay, so the IDUS guys are TOUGH. Seriously, they can take a lot of bullets, and that’s kinda worrying for me as I’m going in. Luckily, Diana’s a genius and can hack into those enemy robots, basically stripping away their armor. She’s got my back, so I’m feeling a little better about facing them now.

You’re responsible for success, even while helping Hugh fight off robots that Diana has hacked. This will be tricky because the hacking sequences are a puzzle you’ll need to quickly understand and become skilled at – the better you do, the more benefits you’ll unlock.

4. Co-dependent Cooperation

Hugh and Diana make a fantastic team because Hugh’s shooting skills depend on combining his attacks with Diana’s special abilities. He doesn’t do much damage unless Diana first weakens enemies with her hacks, all while he slows down opponents to give her time to break through their defenses.

This is just one example of how you’ll learn to work together, drawing enemy attacks so you can break through their defenses and defeat them with your weapons – we’ll cover those in a bit.

5. Meter Management

The game relies heavily on managing cooldowns for your abilities, both when you’re fighting and exploring the space station. For example, Hugh’s spacesuit has thrusters that allow him to hover or quickly dash across the ground.

The dash ability will be really useful for avoiding damage, and hovering lets you jump over big gaps as you try to escape the station and get past IDUS. It’s good these moves aren’t unlimited, because it forces you to think strategically during fights – it’s not just about running and shooting, which keeps things challenging.

6. Check Out Those Guns

Hugh’s spacesuit has four slots for weapons, each designed for a different purpose – like standard combat, tactical maneuvers, defense, or direct attack. You’ll find new weapons as you explore the station, but the most powerful ones have limited ammo and can even malfunction, leaving a slot empty until you find a replacement.

The game offers a wide range of weapons, which means players can create some really strong and effective loadouts as they progress. We’re excited to experiment with different combinations ourselves, and even more excited to see what creative strategies players discover.

7. The Shelter

Within the game, you’ll find The Shelter – a safe haven on the station where you can relax, repair your gear, and improve your skills and weapons. You’ll collect upgrade materials by exploring and defeating enemies, so search thoroughly everywhere you go!

It’s likely a helpful strategy to learn, as you’ll find Escape Hatches scattered throughout each level, giving you access to The Shelter.

8. Making An Escape

Escape Hatches aren’t just for reaching The Shelter; they also save your progress as you explore the station. If you played the demo and weren’t sure how to get to The Shelter, don’t worry – they’ll help you get there!

The demo version doesn’t include the safe zone, but the developer has confirmed it will be available when the full game releases. The following two points will explain why it wasn’t in the demo.

9. (3D) Printing Upgrades

As a fan, I’m really digging how the Shelter isn’t just a base of operations. It’s packed with 3D Printers that use this cool Lunafilament stuff to let you upgrade all the weapons and hacking tools you find while exploring the station. It’s a game-changer!

To keep defeating the robots of IDUS’s army, you’ll need to use your upgrades wisely, tailoring them to how you like to play and maximizing your strengths. Look for powerful combinations by coordinating Hugh’s attacks with Diana’s hacking abilities.

10. Cabin

Diana isn’t the only friendly robot on the research station. You’ll also meet Cabin, a cheerful robot who isn’t connected to the IDUS system and spends time at the shelter. He’s part of a bigger network called CABIN, and he’ll be a valuable ally as you play, helping you improve The Shelter along the way.

How, you ask? We’re going to have to wait to find out, sadly.

11. Taking The Tram

The game lets you quickly travel between unlocked Escape Hatches and The Shelter using a system called The Tram. This will be really useful as you discover new areas and revisit old ones, especially when you gain new abilities or find items that allow for deeper exploration.

Seeing it in the game makes you realize how massive the station must be, and how much ground Hugh and Diana need to cover to solve the mystery and escape.

12. Getting Close and Personal

Hugh usually doesn’t let anyone ride on his back, but he makes an exception for the delightful Diana. Despite this, he’s still willing to approach dangerous enemy droids when necessary.

The recent gameplay reveal highlighted some impressive finishing moves. It looks like players will need to strategically target enemy weak points to create an opening for Hugh to deliver a final, powerful blow.

13. Free Demo Available

If you’re excited about this game, you can now try a playable demo called The Sketchbook on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.

This demo lets you experience the game’s combat and exploration, and includes a tough boss battle. We played it and found it’s a good preview of what it will be like to play as Hugh and Diana.

14. Making The Most Of Your Console

As a PlayStation fan, I’m really excited about how this game uses the DualSense controller on the PS5 – the haptics and adaptive triggers add so much to the experience! Plus, it’s great that I can play it using Remote Play, and even better that the PS5 Pro version is getting some extra enhancements.

The Xbox demo for Sketchbook offers a high-quality experience with features like 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, Ray Tracing, a smooth frame rate of 60fps or higher, and immersive 3D sound including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It’s specifically optimized for the Xbox Series X and S consoles. However, the developers have confirmed that ray tracing won’t be available on the Series S, which is expected given the console’s less powerful hardware, and it’s unlikely to be added in the future.

15. PC Requirements

If you’re playing on PC, make sure your computer meets the game’s requirements. Pragmata needs at least a 64-bit processor, Windows 11, an Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 processor, 26GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB or Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB graphics card, DirectX 12, and 40GB of free storage space.

For a better experience, we suggest using an Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 processor, paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB or Radeon RX 6600 8GB graphics card. The rest of the system requirements stay the same.

That’s all for now! We’re really excited about Pragmata and eagerly awaiting its release on April 17, 2026. The character IDUS has no idea what’s coming!
