Determined to have one last adventure, they set out to prove they can be cool by going to a party, and quickly find themselves navigating a world of carefree fun they’ve always avoided.

What Booksmart does well is avoid portraying teenagers as completely naive. Molly brags about getting into college, believing she’s superior to her classmates who don’t prioritize studying, but she’s surprised to learn many of them also got into great schools. The film balances heartfelt moments with genuinely funny scenes. Molly and Amy are hilariously out of place at a party, and somehow end up becoming legendary figures their high school class will always remember.

While we’ve seen more LGBTQ+ films recently, lesbian stories often feel depressing and outdated. Though films like Carol and Ammonite are well-made, Bottoms offers a refreshing and funny take on queer romance. The movie follows best friends PJ and Josie, who are both crushing on the most popular girls in school. They decide to start a fake self-defense club as a way to get closer to their crushes.

Bottoms captures the familiar story of underdogs finding their place, but it also cleverly brings together different high school groups. Expect plenty of typical teen drama and over-the-top situations, but it’s the unique group of girls that really makes the movie shine. The movie Bodies Bodies Bodies is a darkly comedic thriller where the characters’ own recklessness is the biggest threat. The story follows a group of privileged friends who throw a party at a remote mansion during a hurricane. They decide to play their favorite game, ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies,’ which is like a murder mystery game similar to Werewolf, where players try to identify the hidden killer among them.

I was completely hooked by Bodies Bodies Bodies! It’s such a clever horror movie, and it really feels like a classic teen film, even if the characters are a little older. When someone actually dies, the whole group just falls apart, desperately trying to figure out who did it. What I loved most was how awful these characters were – it wasn’t a flaw, but the point!
