The world of television is constantly changing, and we’ve seen several shows unexpectedly return after being canceled. Sometimes, a cancellation isn’t permanent, just a break. That’s exactly what happened with a TV series now available on Prime Video. All 61 episodes of the show, which has been canceled and brought back twice, are now streaming on Amazon, ten years after its final cancellation following four seasons.
I’m a big fan of Unforgettable, the show with Poppy Montgomery playing Detective Carrie Wells. It’s amazing how many times it was brought back from cancellation – it was canceled twice on CBS, but then moved to A&E! Sadly, it was ultimately canceled after season four, leaving us with an unfinished story. Over its six seasons and 61 episodes, which originally aired from 2011 to 2015, the show followed Carrie, a former detective with an incredible ability to remember everything. She rejoined the police force to solve crimes, all while trying to figure out the one memory that haunted her: the murder of her sister. If you haven’t seen it, it’s now streaming on Prime Video since March 25th.
Unforgettable Is a Run-Of-The-Mill Police Procedural Worth Watching
If you’re looking for a familiar and comforting crime drama, Unforgettable is worth checking out. While the show had an interesting concept, it wasn’t groundbreaking and didn’t become a huge hit when it first aired. Instead, Unforgettable offered a dependable and easy-to-enjoy experience that proved popular enough for multiple revivals, even on different networks.
If you enjoy typical CBS crime shows like The Mentalist or Castle, you’ll likely find Unforgettable enjoyable. It follows a familiar format with each crime being solved within a single episode. However, it’s less intense than shows like CSI or Law & Order, focusing more on the characters’ personal lives and relationships. Poppy Montgomery is excellent as Carrie, bringing a lot of personality and charm to the role, and the chemistry between her character and Al (played by Walsh) is captivating. A unique element of the show is Carrie’s ability to remember everything – a condition called hyperthymesia – which adds an interesting twist to the detective work and creates compelling flashbacks as she revisits crime scenes.
What’s New on Prime Video?
Looking for something to watch on Prime Video? They’ve recently added a bunch of new shows and movies. On the TV side, check out the new series Young Sherlock and Scarpetta, plus the latest season of Invincible. They’ve also added complete seasons of shows like Damages, L.A.’s Finest, and The Winter King. If you’re more in the mood for a movie, new options include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Resident Evil, Super 8, The Shallows, and Valkyrie.
