It’s been two years since Taylor Sheridan, the creator of shows like Yellowstone and Tulsa King, last delivered a fast-paced action thriller. Fortunately, his new project is almost here, and it’s already being called “epic.” After building a reputation for successful shows in the Western, crime, and action genres, Sheridan is preparing to launch what could be his most ambitious TV series yet.
Premiering in July 2023, Special Ops: Lioness was created by Taylor Sheridan and stars Academy Award winner Zoe SaldaƱa as Joe McNamara, a CIA agent leading a covert operations team. The show, based on a true U.S. military program, centers on Joeās efforts to recruit female undercover operativesāknown as āLionessesāāand stop another large-scale terrorist attack, all while navigating the challenges of balancing her work and personal life.
The first season of Lioness received mixed reviews, which was unusual for Taylor Sheridan. However, the second season was much better received, and the show is now poised for a grand return with a third season. News of the renewal for season three arrived late last year, and Jill Wagner, who plays Bobby, the leader of the QRF team, shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, exciting fans.
Wagner shared a collection of photos representing the past five months, admitting it was impossible to capture everything in just 20 pictures. She described the third season of the show as incredible, saying she cherished every moment. Wagner feels grateful for the current phase of her life and is fully embracing it. She also expressed her appreciation for the cast and crew of Lioness, Taylor Sheridan for creating the show, and the people of Texas for their warm hospitality towards her and her family.
James Jordan, a returning cast member and part of the QRF, who plays Two Cups and is popular with fans of the show, has announced that filming for Season 3 is complete. He shared the news with a simple, “we did it.”
Taylor Sheridan, the creator and writer of all 16 episodes of Special Ops: Lioness (note: current seasons are expiring on streaming platforms soon), is gearing up for Season 3, which promises to be another significant installment in the series. Although the specifics of the plot are still under wraps, the previous season ended by introducing a new challenge to Joeās authority. James Jordan has hinted that the upcoming season will be even more action-packed than what viewers have already seen.
