Before it even comes out, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is revealing many of the characters that will be in the new film. With Nintendo having created so much Mario history over the years, it’s not surprising to see lots of familiar faces, even older villains like Wart who haven’t been seen in nearly thirty years. The movie has also announced it will include characters from other Nintendo games, like Pikmin and R.O.B. Now, a big crossover that fans were hoping for has been officially confirmed.
Nintendo just revealed that Fox McCloud from the Star Fox games will be in the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Fans had been guessing about his appearance due to the movie’s space setting. While it’s not clear who will voice the character, the confirmation has already spoiled a surprise for some and sparked a lot of discussion about what his role might be – and whether it could hint at a future Super Smash Bros. movie.
Nintendo Fans Convinced a Super Smash Bros. Is Happening After Mario Galaxy Movie

Since The Super Mario Galaxy Movie involves traveling between planets and different worlds, it’s logical that Fox McCloud makes an appearance. However, Mario and Fox haven’t really crossed over outside of the Super Smash Bros. fighting game series, which is known for bringing together characters from many different franchises. Because of this limited history, fans believe Fox’s cameo in the movie hints at a future film based on Super Smash Bros., possibly with a teaser shown after the credits.

After Nintendo’s recent game reveal, fans started making jokes referencing a famous scene from the 2008 movie Iron Man. In that scene, Samuel L. Jackson’s character hints at the creation of The Avengers, saying, “You’ve become part of a bigger universe. You just don’t know it yet.” Fans shared this quote along with clips from Super Smash Bros., and the idea has become so popular that many are now expecting a similar reveal from Nintendo. If it doesn’t happen, they might be disappointed.
Okay, so we all saw that figure in the trailer, and honestly, people were trying to convince us it wasn’t who we thought it was! But come on… I’m getting major Super Smash Bros. movie vibes, and I’m here for it!

Creating a Super Smash Bros. movie would be really challenging, mainly for two reasons. First, the games don’t have a traditional storyline; they’re designed to bring together a huge cast of beloved characters, worlds, and items in exciting battles. Think Mario, Fox, Pokémon, Samus, Link, and many more! Second, getting the rights to use all those characters would be incredibly expensive. Universal and Illumination would need to negotiate multiple deals with Nintendo. Adding to the complexity, Sony is already making a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, and it’s uncertain if that will affect who owns the rights to animate the Zelda series.
Even though a Super Smash Bros. movie faces significant challenges, there’s a strong financial reason to make it: it could be incredibly profitable. While the popularity of superhero movies is declining, large-scale franchise crossovers still perform very well in theaters. The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned over a billion dollars using only Mario characters, and a Super Smash Bros. movie, with its vast roster of popular characters, could potentially become one of the highest-grossing films ever made, even if the story isn’t the main focus.
