1 Year Later, the Final Season of One of the Biggest Modern Sitcoms Has Arrived on Netflix

Everyone talks about classic sitcoms from the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s, but the 21st century has given us some truly great and memorable shows too. Series like The Office, Arrested Development, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have revitalized the sitcom genre and become hugely popular. Now, a year after a major modern sitcom wrapped up, you can finally stream its last season on Netflix – alongside all the previous seasons!

All seven seasons of The Conners are now available on Netflix, including the recently added final season which premiered on March 26th. This show is a continuation of the popular ‘90s sitcom Roseanne, focusing on the Conner family in Illinois as they cope with life after the loss of their mother, Roseanne. Originally intended as an eleventh season of Roseanne, the show was rebranded following a controversy and premiered on ABC in 2018, bringing back stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert. Throughout its run until 2025, The Conners became a leading sitcom of its time.

ABC’s The Conners Perfectly Continued the Legacy of Roseanne

When The Conners first aired in 2018, it faced a big challenge: following up one of the most beloved and important sitcoms of all time, and doing so without its original star. Remarkably, the show succeeded. Over its seven seasons, The Conners kept the authentic, relatable family feel of the original, honestly portraying the challenges faced by working-class families with humor and resilience. It even tackled tough subjects like grief after the loss of the family’s mother, allowing characters like Dan and Becky to grow and find new directions. With over three decades of history, the cast’s chemistry feels incredibly genuine and natural.

For its first four seasons—and later in its seventh—the show consistently received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. While the final season felt a little fast-paced because it was shorter than usual, it delivered satisfying storylines and a heartfelt conclusion that many fans considered a better ending than the original Roseanne finale. Verne Gay of Newsday described Season 7 as “sweet, sentimental, compassionate,” and a fitting end to the show’s 37-year run.
