Stalker 2: Cost of Hope Expansion Releases in Summer 2026

GSC Game World revealed a new expansion for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl called Stalker 2: Cost of Hope during the Xbox Partner Preview. The expansion is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.

In a recent post on Xbox Wire, Mykyta Horodyvskyi, Brand Manager at GSC Game World, shared details about their upcoming expansion.

At its heart, the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. explores what people believe and how they see things. The next installment will continue a long-running conflict, but with a twist: the previously warring factions of Duty and Freedom are now united by the D4 Treaty, an agreement signed by all groups within the Zone before the events of the Heart of Chornobyl expansion.

The Duty believe the Zone is a threat to humanity and want to eliminate it to keep everyone safe. Freedom, on the other hand, sees the Zone as an opportunity – something to be studied and used for the benefit of all. A shaky peace treaty once kept these opposing views from erupting into conflict, but such agreements rarely last when so much is at stake. Or will this one?

The upcoming expansion will take a significant amount of time to finish, and introduces a new character named Skif. Its story runs alongside the main game’s narrative. Once installed, you’ll receive a prompt during gameplay to begin the expansion. It adds two new areas to explore: Iron Forest and the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. You can watch the trailer for Stalker 2: Cost of Hope below.

Lastly, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
