S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope Expansion Launches This Summer, Adds “Huge New Storyline”

GSC Game World has announced the first of two big expansions for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, called Cost of Hope. It will be released this summer and promises a substantial new story that will take players dozens of hours to complete, even if they don’t explore every corner of the game.

Skif takes center stage again, and a phone call early in the game will launch a brand new story arc. This will send you to explore two distinct areas: the Iron Forest and the legendary Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Each location features a central hub, many smaller points of interest, and plenty of quests to complete.

Two major groups, the Duty and Freedom factions, are involved, but their agreement – the D4 Treaty – seems to be falling apart based on the latest trailer. Duty is against the Zone, while Freedom wants to explore and use it. Your choices throughout the expansion will have a significant impact, shaping the story, the ending, and the future of the Zone.

I’m so hyped for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope! It’s wild to think that the story in this expansion actually happens at the same time as the main game’s events. And the best part? It’s Xbox Play Anywhere, which means I can buy it on PC or Xbox Series X/S and play it wherever I want! They’ve said there’s more to come, so I’m definitely keeping an eye out for future updates.
