The fifth and final season of The Boys is almost here, but creator Eric Kripke suggests fans shouldn’t get too excited about one particular aspect of it.
Kripke described season 5 to SFX Magazine as a complete shift in the show’s landscape. He explained that Homelander is now firmly in control, and everyone else is affected by that. While Starlight is trying to fight back, the rest of The Boys are broken up and going their separate ways.
Frenchie, Mother’s Milk, and Hughie are now prisoners. We spent a lot of time discussing escape plans, drawing inspiration from stories of the French Resistance and daring prison breaks. That’s the kind of storyline we were developing this season.
While we couldn’t afford the large-scale battles of Game of Thrones, there are still plenty of intense fights and clashes between the characters fans want to see. I’m hoping it’s a satisfying and emotional experience for viewers, though I’m also a little nervous about how it will be received.

The last season of Game of Thrones was very controversial, so if The Boys ends differently, that could be a good sign for its fans.
Season 5 of The Boys kicks off with Butcher back in action, determined to eliminate all superheroes with a dangerous virus. This plan unleashes a series of events that will drastically alter everything and everyone. Get ready for a huge finale – the stakes are incredibly high!
Good news for fans of The Boys: even after the final season, the world of the show will continue! A prequel series called Vought Rising is already in production, and there’s also a possibility of a second season for the college-based spin-off, Gen V.

Kripke has said whether the show will be renewed depends on how well it performs with viewers.
We’re eager to continue the story of Gen V. We’ve developed an exciting idea for a third season and are hoping it gets approved, but ultimately that depends on viewer support and whether the network allows it.
