How Ariana Grande Supported Frankie Grande Before His Broadway Return

Frankie Grande knows his sister Ariana Grande is there to offer the best advice every time.

That’s why, before returning to Broadway with Titanique, he quickly asked the Grammy-winning artist for a pre-show boost.

Frankie explained to TopMob News that he sought vocal advice because he was struggling with a sinus infection.

He explained that the situation reminded him of rehearsals. He got very upset, repeating that he was getting increasingly frustrated, and she told him he was overreacting. He was surprised she felt comfortable pointing that out to him.

Ariana, after explaining she’d been trying to relieve the congestion for over ninety minutes each day, suggested a simpler approach.

He explained that she told him to take it easy, starting with 30-minute sessions, then reducing to 15 minutes, and finally stopping when needed. He said following her advice helped him recover.

The actress from Wicked was there to show her support. Frankie isn’t new to performing – or Titanique. He actually started his Broadway career in Mamma Mia! back in 2006, where he first played the role of Victor Garber during the show’s original Off-Broadway performances, set to the music of Celine Dion.

Returning to Broadway for his current show, he thought back to when he and Ariana Grande first started performing there in the late 2000s.

The 43-year-old fondly recalled Ariana’s beginnings in performing, explaining, ‘It felt like I helped nurture her talent.’ She noted that Ariana grew up attending his Broadway shows and quickly transitioned to performing on Broadway herself.

I spent a lot of time mentoring her back then,” he said. “It’s really emotional to think about everything we’ve experienced together, how far we’ve come, and how close we are now.

Frankie and Ariana rarely share work advice anymore. Now, they focus on supporting each other through life’s important events.

You know, as artists, we’ve really found our groove. Now, more than ever, it’s about connecting with all of you and building each other up as a community. We’re confident in our work, and we’re excited to share it and grow together with our fans.

Frankie is excited to have his family and friends in the audience when he and the cast perform their show, which reimagines the 1997 film Titanic through the perspective of Celine Dion. His mother, Joan Grande, and husband, Hale Leon, previously supported him during the Off-Broadway run of Titanique and are now back at the St. James Theatre to cheer him on again.

He told TopMob News that his mom visited the previous night and told him how much she enjoyed the show and praised his performance. He also mentioned his husband would be arriving soon.

Let’s end on: Titanique, now in previews, opens on Broadway for its limited run on April 12.
