The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is now officially placed within the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, giving us a clearer picture of what happened in New York City during Mayor Fisk’s time in power. The first season of Daredevil: Born Again successfully connected the old Marvel Netflix shows to the main MCU storyline. Showrunner Dario Scarpadane has confirmed the season takes place seven years after the events of Daredevil Season 3. The first episode opens in late 2025, depicting the tragic death of Foggy Nelson, and the season concludes around March or April 2027, during the peak of Mayor Wilson Fisk’s enforcement of Martial Law in New York City.
According to Marvel’s official timeline, the second season of Daredevil: Born Again happens after Thunderbolts and before Wonder Man. This changes how we understand the order of events in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and potentially future storylines.
- Daredevil: Born Again S1
- Captain America: Brave New World
- Thunderbolts*
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps
- Daredevil: Born Again S2
- Wonder Man
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will pick up six months after Mayor Fisk declares martial law in New York City. The new season is still set in 2027, likely around September or October.

The movie Captain America: Brave New World started filming in November 2026, two years after the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Later, in the second half of 2027, Thunderbolts premiered. Its end-credits scene showed events jumping forward 14 months, placing the story in late 2028 or early 2029 and setting the stage for Avengers: Doomsday.
The movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set in a separate universe, designated Earth-828, and takes place in 1964. A scene after the credits shows what happens four years later, in 1968, when Doctor Doom goes to the Baxter Building to kidnap Franklin Richards.
The new movie Wonder Man is officially set to take place in January 2026. This is confirmed by a detail in the MCU: a character, Trevor Slattery, mentions being sober for 13 years, referencing the events of Iron Man 3 which happened in 2013.
Because the Wonder Man reboot has been in development for a long time, and considering the trouble Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery are causing for the Department of Damage Control, most people think the movie’s ending happens sometime between the events of Thunderbolts and the start of Avengers: Doomsday – roughly 14 months later.

Explaining The Timeline Implications of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

The recent developments in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 have established that the attack on New York City by the Void, as seen in Thunderbolts *, took place before the events of the current season, specifically during the time when Wilson Fisk was mayor.
As a huge fan, I was really fascinated to learn more about what Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk were going through during the events with the Void. Apparently, both of them were dealing with some intense internal struggles – almost like personal ‘shame rooms’ – while the New Avengers were trying to help Bob. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio actually talked about this with TopMob, and it really adds another layer to their characters. It’s amazing to see how much depth they brought to the story!
Since Born Again Season 2 takes place after Thunderbolts, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Val) no longer leads the New Avengers. However, her continued presence and apparent influence – shown by her activities in the first episode and Mr. Charles’ location in New York – suggest she still holds significant power within the government. This could have major consequences for the more grounded, street-level stories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Okay, so eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed a quick glimpse of Avengers Tower in the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. This has got me thinking – it looks like the New Avengers are planning to set up shop there. However, with Kingpin and his task force causing so much trouble, they haven’t officially moved in yet. It seems like the team is waiting for things to calm down before making it their official headquarters.
The end of Thunderbolts revealed that the Avengers Tower will be the team’s headquarters, suggesting they’ll probably move in after Daredevil and his team deal with the ongoing problem with Wilson Fisk.
