A game currently available on Steam will become unplayable in just 72 hours. It’s being removed from the platform on March 30th, and since it requires an internet connection to play, owners won’t be able to access it offline. It’s unusual to see a relatively new and popular game – released only last month – shut down so soon, but this is happening more often with online games. Other recent examples include Concord and Highguard, which is also slated for release in 2026.
You have until March 30th to try out PUBG: Blindspot, a new take on the popular PUBG game. Developed by ARC Team, PUBG Corporation, and Krafton, this 5v5 tactical shooter launched in early access on February 5, 2026, and is completely free to play – there are no in-game purchases. Players on PC seem to be enjoying it, giving it a 77% positive rating on Steam. Unfortunately, it isn’t compatible with the Steam Deck.
Shutdown Announcement
The game is shutting down, but the developers haven’t given a clear reason why. They simply stated they could no longer consistently deliver the experience players expected. While this offers a reason, it doesn’t really explain what led to that point.
In a statement, Sequoia Yang from the ARC Team acknowledged that this news may be disappointing for many players. They explained that PUBG: Blindspot was an ambitious project aimed at innovating in the tactical shooter genre. The team greatly appreciates the feedback and support received from players, which will be valuable as they work on future games. They expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who believed in and supported Blindspot.
The announcement ends by assuring everyone that the ARC Team isn’t closing down, but will be pausing to reorganize before launching new projects and experiences later on.
Okay, so the official announcement didn’t say much, but it’s pretty clear that not enough people were playing. It seemed like whatever they were planning to earn from adding ways to spend money in the game wouldn’t be worth the cost of running it. Because the game was free and didn’t have any in-game purchases yet, the team and the company had the freedom to just shut it down if they needed to.
