Nintendo is planning a new game in a classic series that hasn’t appeared since the Wii. The series first launched on the Game Boy in 1994 and had six installments, with the last one released in 2008. After nearly 20 years without a new game, many fans had given up hope of seeing it return. However, a recent report suggests Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about the series and is bringing it back in 2027.
A recent report from an anonymous YouTube user, “Malo932,” is gaining attention from Nintendo fans, and for good reason. Typically, random online commentators aren’t reliable sources, but this user actually predicted information that Nate the Hate – a well-respected Nintendo insider – later confirmed about unannounced games planned for 2026 and 2027. Malo932 shared this information six days before Nate the Hate, and even included some extra details. Because of the overlap with Nate the Hate’s report, it’s likely these additional details are accurate too. These include word that a remake of a beloved Super Nintendo game is on the way, and that a new Wario Land game is currently in development and scheduled for release in 2027.
Forgotten Mario Spin-Off Series
If you’re new to the Wario Land series, it started in 1994 as a Game Boy game called Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. Over the years, several sequels followed, including games for the Virtual Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance: Virtual Boy Wario Land (1995), Wario Land II (1998), Wario Land 3 (2000), Wario Land 4 (2001), and Wario Land: Shake It (2008). The series has been on hold since then, but it looks like that’s about to change.
This new report doesn’t offer any new information about the game, such as when it will be announced, if it will be released on multiple generations of consoles, or its exact release date in 2027. However, if the game is coming out next year, we can expect to hear more about it in the next 12 months – meaning an announcement is likely soon.
Just keep in mind that this information should be taken with a grain of salt, given where it came from. Nintendo hasn’t officially responded, and we don’t anticipate they will. However, we’ll update this article if they do. We’d love to hear your thoughts – feel free to share them in the comments or discuss it with others on the ComicBook Forum.
