The last episode of Trigun Stargaze has arrived, concluding the popular anime series that reimagined classic characters like Vash the Stampede, Meryl Strife, Milly Thompson, and Nicholas D. Wolfwood. As you can see in the featured image, the characters look different than in previous versions, as this anime takes a fresh approach to the story. We at egmr.ru recently spoke with the English dub cast about finishing the series and got their thoughts on how their characters managed to survive so many close calls.
Before discussing the overall future of Trigun and the impact of Stargaze, we asked voice actor David Matranga about his character, Wolfwood, and what he thought about the character’s fate. Stargaze surprised many by having Nicholas survive, a departure from both the original manga and the earlier anime by Studio Madhouse. Matranga shared his thoughts on taking on a role where the character’s death is so memorable for fans.
I really care about Wolfwood and his character, so of course I hoped for good things for him. But when I’m actually recording, I focus on bringing the script to life and don’t dwell on what I want to happen. I genuinely enjoy recording his scenes, and I’m committed to taking Wolfwood wherever the story leads him, even with this new take on the series. I try not to overthink things, because I don’t want my personal feelings to influence the performance or the anime itself.
The Legacy of Vash And Company

When asked about the lasting impact of Trigun Stargaze, Matranga explained that it’s difficult to fully understand the franchise’s legacy while still being closely involved. He believes the show’s true impact isn’t about any single character, but about how all the characters connect and the conversations they inspire. Ultimately, he feels a good story’s legacy lies in prompting us to consider what it means to be human – a discussion they’re having right now!
Building on David’s idea, voice actress Milly (Alexis Tipton) emphasized that every character in the story feels essential, contributing meaningful relationships that deeply impact everyone involved. She believes this is what makes the story so captivating and predicts people will still be enjoying or discovering it decades from now, seeing the characters as truly immortal and appealing to anime fans. Sarah Roach, who voices Meryl Strife, agreed, stating she believes the anime will remain popular and that there’s a special connection viewers have with the story.
Johnny Yong Bosch, the voice of Vash the Stampede, is optimistic about the possibility of a Trigun renewal, despite the recent conclusion of Stargaze. He shared that there are still a few episodes left to record and he’s hoping for the show to continue, saying he’d love to see it get picked up again. Bosch believes fan support could be key to a potential remake or sequel.
You can now watch Trigun Stargaze on Crunchyroll. The final episode with the English dub will be released on Saturday, April 11th at 7:00 AM Pacific Time.
