One significant aspect where Ghost of Tsushima could have been improved is by introducing more diversity to maintain engagement within its expansive open world.
Initially, our enjoyment was high as we chased foxes and composed haikus within the game. However, the excitement waned significantly as we aimed for its Platinum trophy, eventually becoming a tedious and even frustrating experience.
According to creative director Nate Fox, the team at Sucker Punch has taken fan feedback into account.
On the subject of Ghost of Yotei, he told Automaton:
As a curious gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the Ghost of Yotei has craftily redesigned certain mini-games within our open-world adventure. Now, when you stumble upon hidden secrets during your exploration, you won’t find yourself backtracking through the same sequence. Instead, we’ve concocted a variety of surprises that will leave you awestruck! We firmly believe that the allure of open-world games lies in discovery and exploration, so our aim is to provide an immersive, unpredictable gaming experience for you.
One key focus of the upcoming sequel, as outlined in its latest update, revolves around the concept that one can follow their passions. However, for this to work effectively, it’s crucial that there are engaging and evolving results.
As a gamer, I’ve got faith in Sucker Punch when it comes to their second games. Just like how Sly 2: Band of Thieves and inFAMOUS 2 built upon their originals, I’m hopeful that Ghost of Yotei will take a big leap forward too.
