A famously challenging Platinum Trophy on PlayStation has finally been earned by a player, marking a historic achievement.
This weekend, a Japanese player named Tqvry achieved a major milestone in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on the PS Vita by collecting all of the game’s unlockable items, known as trinkets.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, the ultimate reward – a special achievement called the Dynamic Duo gong – is unlocked by finishing a challenging set of cooperative missions at the fastest speed setting.
Unfortunately, this game lacks online multiplayer, meaning you’ll have to play with a rather unhelpful AI partner. Plus, while it runs faster than some versions, the PS Vita version only manages 30 frames per second, noticeably lower than the original’s smoother 60 frames per second.
Tqvry proved he achieved a difficult gaming feat by streaming his nine-hour session, capturing the moment he unlocked a rare Trophy. He’s currently the only player known to have legitimately earned this achievement, with verifiable proof.
This achievement is widely considered the ultimate accomplishment in trophy hunting. Although many Platinum trophies are very difficult to earn, it’s expected that Tqvry will be the only person worldwide to achieve this particular feat—though his success might inspire others to try.
Either way, we’re impressed. One for the next edition of Going Platinum, Stephen Tailby?
