Even though the Incredible Hulk is a hero, the comic books often show him fighting other heroes – something the Marvel movies haven’t really done. Hulk is a powerful, out-of-control force, and while Bruce Banner tries to do the right thing, he can’t always control Hulk’s destructive impulses. That’s why other heroes often have to stop Hulk to keep people safe and prevent further damage.
Let’s look at the major battles Hulk has had in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first fought Abomination in The Incredible Hulk, and later joined the Avengers, where he clashed with Thor on the Helicarrier and helped defeat Loki and the Chitauri. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, he battled Iron Man’s Hulbuster armor and then teamed up to destroy Ultron. Hulk fought Thor again in Thor: Ragnarok, and also faced Hela. He then fought Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and finally transformed into Smart Hulk in Avengers: Endgame, effectively ending his run as the Savage Hulk.
6) Spider-Man

Hulk and Spider-Man have crossed paths many times in Marvel comic books, so it’s strange they haven’t met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – until now. The upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will finally bring the two heroes together, as the trailer shows Peter Parker meeting Bruce Banner. Although it’s not official, many believe Bruce will transform into his Hulk persona in the movie, giving Spider-Man a chance to battle the powerful green hero.
Spider-Man is currently the most likely hero to stand a chance against Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering the events of Brand New Day. However, if Hulk stays in his more aggressive ‘Savage’ form after the upcoming movie, it opens the door for many other heroes to potentially fight him in future MCU stories.
5) Deadpool

In the comic series Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, Deadpool has a massive battle with the Hulk, ultimately being torn apart before later killing Bruce Banner in his sleep. Given Deadpool’s awareness of Hulk’s identity – established in Deadpool & Wolverine – and his incredible healing ability, he’s uniquely positioned to go toe-to-toe with the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A fight between them would be fantastic to see on screen.
4) The Thing

The Thing, like Hulk, is a powerful, large character who used to be human. They’ve faced off in Marvel comics multiple times, and their battles are always exciting. While Hulk is generally stronger, the Thing is more thoughtful and plans his attacks. With the Thing now part of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday, a fight between these two seems more likely than ever.
3) Red Hulk

Captain America: Brave New World was a strange movie. It continued the story from The Incredible Hulk, but without actually including the Hulk character. Harrison Ford played General Thunderbolt Ross, who transforms into Red Hulk near the end, and then battles Captain America. It felt odd to have a story connected to the Hulk without the Hulk appearing, but fans are hoping Marvel will eventually show a fight between different versions of the Hulk.
2) The Leader

The Leader served as the primary antagonist in Captain America: Brave New World and is also a frequent enemy of the Hulk in Marvel comics. He’s often considered the Hulk’s most iconic foe, making it surprising that the Hulk wasn’t included in the 2025 film. Since The Leader is still alive within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be satisfying to see the post-credits scene from The Incredible Hulk finally resolved with a confrontation between these two characters.
1) Wolverine

The battle between Wolverine and Hulk is legendary in Marvel Comics, happening many times over the years. But because Wolverine was originally associated with Fox’s X-Men films and Hulk with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a live-action showdown seemed impossible – until recently. Disney’s purchase of Fox now allows these two characters to appear together, finally making this epic fight a reality.
The movie Deadpool & Wolverine briefly shows Deadpool visiting a reality where Wolverine is battling Hulk. While the fight itself isn’t shown—it’s just a quick joke—it’s gotten fans excited about the possibility of seeing Wolverine and Hulk go head-to-head in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This little scene suggests Marvel knows fans are interested, so there’s hope Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine might fight Bruce Banner in a future Marvel project.
